Thanks to all for feedback and replies. Frenchman was refunded his money in total and agreed to mutual feedback removal for all neutrals and negs that he left. Now it is time to start listing again(with better descriptions).

I thought the records looked great.

I have had some that looked near mint but sounded terrible though so I try to play at least the first song on each before listing them.

I did add a disclaimer to my listings that these are for listening and that a true collector would probably not be pleased with the purchase.

My records have been through 30 and 40 years of boxes and moving around the country and look far worse than yours. I throw out anything with loud pops and hiss but you aren't going to find perfect on most old records.

Plus the playback sound changes drastically with the quality of your stereo equipment. You can not be responsible for that part.

I almost moved all of mine elsewhere after reading about your experience but I'm using a throw away ebay ID right now anyway until I see how the DSR thing holds up so if I run across someone who can't read (you clearly said they were used and that you did not listen to all of them) then I'll just move them elsewhere then and go back to my main ID.

My rambling was intended to say that I saw nothing wrong with your listing and thought the records appeared to be above average after searching through many other listings on ebay right now.

I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to criticize - I don't know a thing about selling records - perhaps the one I looked at was the only one where the image was blurry. I think that if a US deal goes awry it isn't such a big catatastrophe, but an international deal with high shipping costs is another story. If you refund, you really get burned financially - if you don't refund, your Feedback gets burned. It's hard to block international buyers these days because they are the only ones with money.

No, you were right Neglus.

It's just really hard to photo an lp.

If you get the closup they can see the label. If you back up they can see it all but not the grooves.

I had depended on my description (as in saying these are not graded for collectors) but thought I better add a disclaimer.

I am glad I moved them to a throwaway ID and not my main one (which I'm not even using now).

I've found the international buyers to be much much pickier than in the past about everything from shipping costs to item itself. I just went to USA only but lately with all the ebay changes those in the USA are becoming difficult too.

It's about time to go back to just the single postcards and move everything else somewhere else!

drgah, did the buyer return the items or did he get to keep them & get his money back too.

If he did this is very unfair. But then again the postage would be a killer.

I refunded shipping and the original cost of the albums ($105 + $80 shipping). I told him to keep them. That was part of the deal. It was worth it to me to get rid of 5 neutrals and 5 negatives. C'est la vie.

What a shame you caved. You certainly gave that buyer an education...in fraud.

He was satisfied with some of the items & should have been reimbursed for only the ones he complained about.

Sorry it didn't work out better for you.
