Dreamfieds is not standard pasta and I am willing to accept that this theory may be apocryphal. In any case it does not take that much longer to boil it and discard the water so I will continue to do it. Come to think of it some of the starch could be in the cooking water and discarding it might make some difference.

Boiling pasta does indeed remove some of the starch. Dreamfield's is lower in available carbohydrates than regular pasta to start with, and cooking it first will remove a bit more.

Not boiling the lasagna is one of the things I like most about this recipe. I just read some reviews about Dreamfields and I can't wait to try their pasta. They ranked even with regular Barilla pasta in taste tests and were preferred 5 to 1 over regular Creamettes. They have a 65% lower glycemic index. At dinner, I had to scrape off and put aside half of my pasta to avoid a sugar dump. Can't wait to try it again with Dreamfields; I'll still try it with uncooked pasta.
Edited to add: Interesting tidbit: the amount of carbohydrates per serving on the Dreamfields label is 42 grams, yet the amount of available carbohydrates is only 5 grams - the rest is fiber and passes through your body without absorption. Reading nutritional info on labels isn't as easy as it used to be!

My local supermarket used to carry Dreamfields but after a buyout by another chain dropped it along with several other items that I really like. We now make a longer drive to another market to stock up. This summer I was in Dallas where the markets that carried Dreamfields did not carry lasagna. I had promised my family homemade lasagna so I got on their web site and ordered a box to be mailed to me. Came in a couple of days. If the local supply ever dries up that is what I will do. We like it that much! -----o----o----o----o----o----o----o----o
