My Ebay sales is not too bad, everything considered.
I am charging overseas bidder the same shipping as domestic bidders, but they have to pay for insurance.
It seems to work as I am getting bidders from Europe,Australia,Japan,China and Russia.
Max shipping is 13.95 anywhere in the world.

I've also noticed that sales are down when I try to move store to core instead of listing new items. Similar to an antique mall booth, you can't expect continued high sales by shuffling old inventory around. You need to add new items, preferably in core.

How is it you can send overseas for the same cost? What are you selling? I may end up losing all of my overseas with the new shipping and USPS has only priority. The last item (Hand Plane) was $13.00 US and $41.00 for Australia w/100 insurance, confirmed and I tacked on $3.50 for all the "extras". It seems that the USPS has eliminated Parcel Post for overseas...

I sell small items and it fits in a box 3 by 2 by 2 inches.
I dont ship USPS priority mail ,I ship first class for both domestic and overseas.
But overseas buyers must pay insurance,I self insure so far only one person claim non delivery.
As for 13.95 max, they dont buy more than 5 items at a time and I will put them in a box and then put the box in a fixed rate USPS priority envelope for what 13 dollars??
If they buy more than 5 items,I make money on those items and I dont mind spending more than 13.95.
This shipping method would not work on your large plane unless your margin is so good, you dont mind using some of it to subsidize shipping.

Also the dollar is cheap compared to their currencies-yen,aussie dollar, euros.

Have you looked into USPS priority box for shipping overseas?
They come in 2 sizes, one is around 40 dollars and the other is 50 dollars, there is some insurance included.
I will go to USPS website to print my shipping label, they give us a small discount for doing so and then I use a Paypal debit card, and Paypal gives me 1 1/2 % rebate.
If you just print your label on Paypal site, there is no discount from USPS .

hwahwa... thanks but your list is exactly the pricing I use on my items.
*
The one item to Australia is $41.35 and that is what the many are griping about.
*
That is the flat price $39.85...plus $1.50....
*
I guess I can cut the $1.50 but my margins are not very wide...and I don't sell high enough in volumn at the moment.
*
But there is no way I can send it $22.00, as one person wants it.
*
Oh well....

Sales are defintely down and I may know about an additional problem that is causing it, particularly for those of us who use Vendio. I've had a few sales for Sept (both auctions and store items) but all have been non payers. I have also received many emails from potential buyers asking questions that are answered in my ads via the descriptions and/or the photos. One or two of these types I would just believe it was a lazy buyer but this has been way above average for these type of questions.I was switched to the new "beta" ad format and what appears to be happening is the buyers are confused by it and when they see the 3 tabs, description, shipping and payment and buying tips, they think the item specifics which is the first thing on the description tab is the description.Vendio places the gallery and squaretrade and store info below that then the actually ad and photos They are not aware that there is more lower down which includes my photos and description.Where the gallery photo is, others who use Ebay's photos, have all their photos right below the gallery photo in smaller size so that the buyers can click on each to enlarge. Vendio users photos do NOT show here, just the gallery photo. If a buyer believes that the item specifics is the total description and there is only one photo, they usually pass it by.I called the powerseller line and got no help at all. The agent I talked to acted like it was no big deal and tried to imply that buyers were stupid and that because we use a 3rd party for listing and photos it was our fault because Ebay has to make money on it. My ads are dependent on buyers reading my descriptions and on lots of photos and I can't get sells when they don't see the info. I have also sent my complaint on this issue to the board that is handling the beta test.If you are also stuck with the new format, this may also be happening to you. When my sales fall this bad, I know something unusual is affecting it. I've been a powerseller for 5 years and never had a month below $2,000. My sales tend to stay the same monthly with no weak months due to seasonal changes

Let Vendio know on the services board. People are just looking for pics in the upper left of the listing and don't look in the decription area anymore. I have a temporary fix by appending "See Description for more scans" at the top of my gallery picture.

I have started looking up everything I am going to put on eBay and it is making me money. If it has not been selling or selling to cheap I do not run it.I am selling just about everything I put on and saving money by not starting items that don't sell.
Also a lot of items I was selling on eBay I am selling at the flea market and garage sales for as much or a little less than I was getting on eBay. I would much rather take a little less and get cash on the spot.

I agree sales are down everyware , but what ebay is charging is getting out of hand . soon we cant even let the buyer decide if they want insurance from postal service , if we think it needs insurnce from postal service we have to include it in are handling fees (now that doesn't make sense !!) . yes i know paypal is supposed to keep you protected well we will see on that , this is just another way of ebay getting more from the seller . customers /buyers are not always right there are some real cons out there they know you can't leave a negative but you can receive them , and while i'am venting this number system is a laugh , they say my communication is 4.5 well i send invoice , within 15 miniutes of end of auction , shipping time 4.7 gee i take it to post office the same day or next day if p.o is closed , ( its nice i get graded on a service i pay for and have no control !). i for one have cut way back on selling and i will likely stop soon and its not all because of the economy mostly because of the way ebay has changed .

Toolhound, I too invest much more in research to determine similar items in eBay. If there are a ton of them sitting in eBay stores, I won't list the item since a great percentage of them are listed below my lowest acceptable price. If there are a few of them, I will list them first in core with a reasonable BIN and free shipping. If the item is unique, I try to get in as many relevant key words as possible and price with a slightly higher starting auction price than I used to have. My sales are 2/3 of what they used to be. My eBay fees are roughly half of what they used to be. Does that mean I'm winning? Doesn't seem like it.
