Look - this is interesting. I just got this website from a family member who is in the hospital. I thought it might be interesting to pass on to the VD family

What a wonderful idea.
We could have used that in July when two members of our family were in a very bad accident. The family is very big and spread out over several Canadian Provinces so it was quite a job for people to keep up to date on what was happening.

I have bookmarked the site but hope we never need it for our family.

Met my oncologist today...love her. She gave me some very good news. My cancer is not
HER2 + it's HER2 -
100% estrogen receptive +
60% progesterons receptive +
Not that I really understand all that, but means something like I have a lesser chance of the cancer returning and I will not have to take Herceptin, but will have 6 weeks of radiation....maybe some chemo, maybe not will probably have an answer after surgery. My lymph node biopsy is not back yet, probably Wednesday and that might tell something too about needing chemo or not. Chemotherapy is one thing I don't want.

Cheryl, Diane, Penny & Beverly thanks for your good wishes and Bev the cyber roses are as beautiful as any real roses I've seen.
It was sweet of you to send them. If they were real my cats would have a great time chewing them up.

glassgrl great site great idea for us to keep track of each other and our families.

What ever happened to Jack and sanmar...anyone know? Time for Tom & Ralphie to check in too.

Great news, I am so happy that it isn't the receptive type that would cause it to return. Know we are all pulling for you to have good results and no chemo. Pat

Thanks for the good wishes Neva, photo, Cheryl & Pat. I'm feeling pretty good right now knowing my chance of cancer returning is more than cut in half.

Pat sounds like you know something about this. Anything you could add?

I spend so much time on breastcancer.org I should know more than I do. I think I try to take in too much everyday and it all starts running together.

I still say I would rather have BC than Lyme.
Might change my mind once I have surgery and radiation, don't know yet. Lyme was the sickest I've ever been in my life and seemed to last forever. I think I'm 99% over it except I'm cold all the time, could be 80 out and sometimes I have to put the heat on also most mornings my hands shake. The doctor gave me an Rx for Valium and I take that if I need it. I am no longer tired...that was the worst part for me.
I really feel great....for now.

No glassgrl I didn't get good or bad news today, the doctor didn't call, but I got something even better. I have taken so many pictures and am not happy with any of them, but here it is. And I want to repeat what you said to me..."I am without words"... but then I do have something to say. How can I thank you enough for your thoughtfulness. Something so totally unexpected that it made me cry. Pink flowers and so beautiful from someone I have known on VD for over ten years and one who has helped me so much through hard times...remember when I lost my home to hurricane Isabel in 2003 you were there for me and now Lyme Disease and breast cancer.
The flowers are so beautiful.
Thank you Laura Beth thank you very much.

Jane

Hi everyone,
Have been feeling very sick the last week, Lyme relapse, but feeling pretty good today.

Tomorrow morning I go to the hospital for my surgery and re-construction, will stay overnight.
I still don't have a positive answer about my lymph node biopsy. I have a copy and it's very confusing...here is what it says !!!

Left axilla:
The specimen shows a monomorphic population of small mature lymphocytes with regular nuclear contours and scant cytoplasm admixed with a few prolymphocytes. A low grade lymphoproliferative disorder cannot be excluded. Recommend correlation with an excisional biopsy.

Not absolutely certain sounds inconclusive and my surgeon said she does not think cancer has spread to my lymph nodes, but is going to take out the sentinel node and a few more as suggested.

I know I can't get out of the six weeks of radiation, but am sure going to try to talk my Oncologist out of hormone therapy which will last for FIVE YEARS and can possibly have some nasty side effects. At least I won't loose my hair as you do with chemo and doubt very much she will say OK so I don't think I'm going to get out of this.

I am producing too much estrogen and projesterone and that's what's causing my cancer. Hormone therapy will stop it and give me a 50% chance of the cancer not coming back. Five years of therapy and only a 50% chance doesn't sound all that great to me.
I had no idea breast cancer was such a big deal and had to be treated for so long, thought they remove it and you go on with your life, but I do know they have come a long way in the past ten years.

I'm not scared of the surgery just scared of the radiation and hormone therapy.

I regret that I waited four years between mammograms so stupid of me and can't help wondering what if.....
Too late now and I'm lucky it has not metastasized. Will be home Wednesday and will post how things went.

I remember a post by Fluffy...A Colonoscopy
For Christmas...she was waiting while her husband was having his when she posted. That's what I'm giving myself for Christmas, we all should. I know someone who ignored symptoms waited too long it's now in her pancreas she is making out her will and getting ready for home hospice.

glassgrl the flowers continued to be even more beautiful two large pink lily buds opened. One for your sister and one for me.

Talked to Tom and Ralphie yesterday and he's on medication that seems to be working, very good news.

I'm very touched from the bottom of my heart by everyone's concern, helps so much when so many friends care.
Ladies please get your mammograms, cancer is something you don't see coming and when it does look out, it's a really big deal even if caught fairly early like mine.

Prayers coming your way! We will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I have to admit I was dreading the mammogram this year (only my 2cnd one) and I kept putting it off. I was pleasantly surprised when I did finally go get it done to find out that they had new equipment and it was painless! What a switch from last year! I won't be so hesitant to go back next year. I don't know what the equipment was but I asked her why they weren't shouting about it from the roof tops.

Jane, It goes without saying that we are all pullings for you BUT I'll say it anyway. We are all pulling for you to have the best result and the quickest recovery!

Glassgrl, was it digital. I had one in January after the lab changed to digital and it was much less painful. They did say not to freak out is I got a call back because they were getting more false positives. Maybe because they are not used to reading the new digital scans.

Jane, my Wife took Tomoxifin ? for 5 years and no problem. They have since found problems with it. ONLY 50 % give me a break you may very well wish you had take them on the 50 %. It's no big deal on the radiation or the five years of pills,it gets to be like takeing a vitiman every day. I took my Wife longer to undress than the radiation took !! Best of luck and God Bless

I work in an vascular ultrasound department as a stenographer and I type from dictation some of these 'correlation needed' statements. With our techs it just means they were unable to verify 100% what they were seeing due to something hindering the viewing. Most of the time when checked by another method nothing was wrong, just needed to be rechecked to be sure. I do not know if it works the same way with biopsies but hope sharing this takes some of the fear out for you. You have all my good wishes and prayers for tomorrow and beyond. Pat

Have called her a number of times since then & have not been able to make contact, and me & my lil bud are getting very concerned...

Jane did say she would undergo 6 weeks of radiation post-op, 5 days a week. She lives in a rural area, so it would make a lot of sense to be in temporary housing closer to the treatment center. She may not have Internet access or a computer with her.
