I use photobucket picture hosting for categories where extra pictures aren't free and list directly thru Ebay. I've heard other people speak well of Inkfrog and Auctiva - but I don't have any personal experience with either of them.

There are a few services - Auctiva, inkfrog, and BigDaddy.

I will stay with Vendio for awhile so as to see what develops. However, my eBay store will be closed in August. I'm going to go with the 100 auctions and about 30 FP items.

Then auctions for a select group of items can be directed from my main store to eBay Auctions.

I'm not sure that Vendio will be cost effective for the 100 free auction listings, after August.

Need to check out the AliBaba material later this weekend.

@hwahwa

I'm not completely sure I understand your question regarding AliExpress.com.

What you can do as as seller is order items from AliExpress suppliers (by the way you can negotiate pricing too). Once those items arrive, you could sell them in your Store and eBay. Of course some of these items are already on eBay - however, we are working with AliExpress to get exclusive deals & coupon codes for Vendio sellers.

Well I used the coupons and purchased a cell phone, small digital movie camera, a watch, an electric shaver, and a car mp3 player that plugs in the lighter and runs over the FM bands. Total outlay on my part around $12. Thanks to Vendio and Alibaba for bringing Christmas early. Greg

I can only redeem one coupon at at time? Is that correct? Also I have 2 Vendio accounts - can I redeem the coupons for both?

So far I'm finding the site difficult to use - very time consuming as well.
Is there a way to view items that are offered with one piece only. I'm not really interested in re-selling anything at this time but would like to try a few items for personal use.
Also the prices aren't displaying. There is a link to ask for the latest price???
Is anyone else having these issues??

Hello Ladyjewels2000,

It is correct that you can only use one coupon at a time. However, as soon as you have completed checkout for an item using one of the coupons, you may then activate and use the next coupon. (It isn't necessary to actually receive the item before you can use the second coupon.) I believe you would only be able to use the coupons for the one Vendio account, as the coupons will only work once per Aliexpress account.

After you have initially searched for an item, please look near the bottom left of the page (immediately below the category list). You should see a "Price and Quantity" section. Here you may enter a price range for the items that you are searching (such as $20 - $25), and also specify the quantity. So if you enter "1" into the quantity box, only items that can be ordered/shipped singly will be displayed.

In regards to the pricing, you should be able to see the prices in the far right column of the search results page. Also, there is a box at the top of the search results that can be used to only show items with free shipping (labeled "Show Free Shipping only" ).

Regards,
Nathan

I just want to have Vendio host my photos and launch auctions, have a great place to see my completed auctions. That is why I am here!
I love Vendio, and we all know how promise "change" works out. JMO-NOT a divine revelation.

I just hope Vendio stays as it is - the best place for what does it RIGHT NOW!

I agree. I sell one of a kind collectibles and antiques - have no use for Alibaba. Just want to host pictures and schedule auctions. I have a bad feeling about this change - probably nothing will happen at first, but I am of an age where pronouncements about companies being taken over make me very suspicious. The last one I had any involvement with moved personnel from Michigan to New Jersey, from New Jersey to London and then dumped them.

Chinese businesses used to be govt owned and
operators have no concept of profit or efficency,so one of this,3 of that is fine.
Now they want to be capitalists and if they dont turn a profit, they will go down the tube.
if they are selling one of this and 3 of that, they are hoping you will come back for a full order or they are desperate and or ignorant or these are remaining inventory or their severance pay or stolen goods.
yes, there could be import duties depends on what you import and how much is the declared value.
small business getting rich doing business with small business is like what Oscar Wilde once say of a second marriage,it is a triump of imagination over experience.
you are better off going to your local wholesaler or 99 cents store.
But then what does Oscar baby know, same sex marriage was not allowed back then in Great Britain,

I've been in contact with two wholesalers. I haven't made any purchases yet.

I have some very legitimate concerns however. Some of the items I sell have been notoriously faked and are not allowed by eBay, amazon or any other reseller venue.

I do not want fakes/black market items. What guarantees does Alibaba give that what I receive is genuine and that I am not just paying some Chinese counterfeiter for fakes?

When I look at the photos of such items, there are some that they look fake or they have edited the photos to blur out the brand or logo of the item.

So, now that Vendio is owned by Alibaba, what guarantees do we have when we buy items through AliBaBa? How quickly will an issue be resolved if I fork out $1000 for an order and receive a crate of fakes?

These are some very important questions I have to ask.

We looked at the USB thumb drives on AliExpress, then did a search on "fake kingston thumb drives." Looks like some sellers are taking cheap drives and relabelling them with larger capacities.

I refer you to:

http://reviews.ebay.com/BEWARE-of-FAKE-128GB-256GB-USB-Flash-Drives-on-eBayeBay_W0QQugidZ10000000001236200

It sure would be nice to get a genuine Kingston 256GB flash drive for $5.25 with coupon, considering they sell for about $950 in the real world, but don't be fooled.

The Alibaba forums shed an interesting light on the problem of buyer confidence. For example, the seller status rating of Gold Supplier, which is not currently based on feedback or customer rating, is being considered.

So, after further research I am discovering that my concerns are very legitimate. Apparently, AliBaBa does not protect us from fraudulent users. So basically, Vendio has sold us to AliBaBa and 40+ thieves.

http://resources.alibaba.com/topic/500009873/Learn_Useful_Tips_on_Identifying_Scammers_on_Alibaba_com.htm

If you read some input from others, it seems like you have to spend a lot of time rummaging through to find legitimate wholesalers. In fact, one suggestion by AliBaBa is to go to the actual factory and inspect it. Huh???

Kinda defeats the purpose of using AliBaBa, don't you think? Sounds like AliBaBa is riddled with scammers looking for their next victim and AliBaBa does very little to prevent it... until people are scammed.

I did see that AliBaBa Express provides escrow, which is nice and I may try... but I am still not too excited about this buyout. I never felt that I had to worry about scammers on Vendio in any of their programs.

Neither does eBay, not in any effective way. It's still quite possible to buy a fake Chanel handbag or fake Tiffany necklace or (fill in the blank). eBay's safeguards are so feeble anyone can get around them.

Alibaba apparently assumes we, as merchants, are just as ready to look the other way as they are. That's what I find chilling.

yes, you can buy such items on eBay, however eBay does offer buyer protection, particularly for Item Not As Described. Even if a seller falls of the face of the earth, eBay will step up and give the buyer a refund.

As sellers/resellers Alibaba and eBay is a double edge sword. We have no protections whatsoever... with perhaps the exception being payment methods.

I did see some notation that Alibaba Express offers an escrow service for "smaller" purchases. I haven't further investigated this, nor have a clue what constitutes "smaller" purchases.

The best solution to deal with this is to find a source that will accept credit cards that offer fraud protection... or dare I suggest Paypal???? lol.

Only if you realize what you got was a fake. There's nothing much stopping such items from being listed in the first place.

Sellers in China and Thailand have gotten away with selling gold-plated junk as "14k solid gold" for years, even while racking up hundreds of negs.

Google accepts advertising from non-U.S. sellers who openly hawk fake Tiffany jewelry. As an Adsense publisher, I block these sites from putting ads on mine, then Google comes back to me and says, "You shouldn't do that because you're missing out on ad revenue." (I am paraphrasing.)

It's an online culture of corruption that threatens the integrity of ecommerce.
