I've been concerned about nettak and Rocker too, I sure hope they're both alright.

Zilvy - you're too funny Imelda and mouse layer???

We have substitute vampires for the one, the only Rocker, kind of like substitute teachers, right?

ok, I will do that pharlap. Let's hope all is well.

alkathingy!! LOL

an Alkaseltzer is a tablet that helps with indigestion, it fizzes when you drop it into water. Tastes vile, but it works.

Pharlap Alka Seltzer is a trade name
for fizzing antacid tablets - Bromo Seltzer
was another, their fizzing action helps
alleviate certain acid and gaseous conditions. Ergo...being "HOT" was a play on
words...do not light a match...be afraid,
be very afraid.

I am waiting for Mouse to address
the problem of the Freudian Slip on her name!
So far she has chosen to Ignore me!!

I don't know how you feel about it, but if
it's medicine don't try to dress it up..I
hate Cherry flavored med, lemon lime, mixing
foul stuff in Orange juice. Makes me shudder.
If it tastes bad but makes you feel good I
can handle it better than phony flavors. DH
got me some lemon lime Alka Seltzer thinking
it would be tasty. I didn't read the package
and started to gulp it down..big mistake...

Night Enchanted - sweet dreams!

OK - I've found a cute one here:

Once a woman was in labor; she was having a really tough time dealing with the pain. The doctor came to her husband and her and told them of a new experimental drug that allows the woman to transfer 25% of the pain to the father. The husband feels really bad for his wife so he decides they will try it.

The wife takes the pill and a few minutes later the husband says, "I don't feel a thing. You women are babies. Take another pill I can handle this." So the wife takes another pill. Same thing happens. Her husband tells her to take another pill. Same thing. By now she has transferred 75% of her pain to her husband. She is feeling a little pain but her husband is still feeling nothing. He is convinced that women are complete wuses.

He tells her, "Take another pill. This isn't hurting me at all. Let me take all the pain away." So she does. Now they are both feeling great. A few hours later, the wife gives birth to a beautiful baby boy.

The next day they take their newborn son home, and there they find the mailman dead on the doorstep...

So Pharlap what fun things do you like
to do that you want to talk about on an open
forum?
Oh I have wanted to tell you how well your
joke about the credit card and male dancer
went over with a group of friends...each one
of us was called on to tell a joke and yours
was the one I remembered. They loved the punch line!
Ok I was typing over you ...love that one!

That one would have to be my favourite - I hope it went over well I wish I could take credit for them but they're just ones I've found on the internet...

OK - things I like to do (that I can discuss here )

I love going to the movies rather than watching videos - 1000 times better!

I read anything I can get my hands on - non fiction preferably (especially autobiography - it's so voyeristic!) I haven't read in years and have just recently taken it up again and I am thoroughly enjoying myself (previous job left me with very little spare time)

I love hanging out with my friends - shopping, movies the usual. Not into nightclubbing much...

I also love late night US talk shows (Jay/Conan).

Oh - and I absolutely LOVE driving. I'll even go hit the highway for no reason at all and have my CD player up really loud - love it!!! Don't do it as much as I would like anymore due to the petrol prices

That about sums me up - pretty boring huh???

Edited to add - (smacking my forehead) I forgot to mention the most important thing!!! I adore horse racing. As in going to the races, watching on TV, collecting memorabillia, reading about it etc. etc...

Nighters Enchanted!

Yes Pharlap, we have Mylanta. Yes indeed, nasty stuff. The one I hate the most is Nyquil, but then I hate black licorice

Miss Mouse glad you finally picked up
on that...I mean well, really!! I can't
take Nyquil,hubby does, but I didn't realise
it tasted like liqorice...boy I am gonna have
to turn in I can't spell for anything. Where
is Bistandbob, Tigerlady, Rocker, Nettak...
it makes it so much fun when there are a
bunch of us here sharing time & space.
Pharlap Not boring...love to take
off in the car with a good selection of
tunes and the radio cranked way up. I mean
way up...blew a speaker in the front, DH
can't figure how that could happen...I'm
not telling. We used to live nearer the
ocean and sailed a lot, now we are much
further inland so only go out with friends
a couple times a season. Hot air balooning
has been fun...too expensive to do too often.
Hey Mouse out your way they do a lot of that
don't they, even have rallies if I remember
correctly. Well I'll post then go get ready
for bed it is 1:10 AM Sunday morning and we
a full day later on. Ciao

Zilvy wait don't go! You ask me a question and then go to bed? Sheesh! Where do you live, back east? We have hot air balloon events here and there's a big race in New Meixco every year. I've always wanted to go to that one! Some of my first pictures I took were of hot air balloons when the even here was smaller and I could get real close for free

I used to love to drive too and have been known to blow out my speakers too, LOL! The ones in my current car frankly suck. I can't wait to get better ones!

Don't worry Pharlap, I'm here for awhile anyway!

*Sheesh, takes me a whole day to realize I can't spell balloon!

Luckily it was payweek (I get paid fortnightly which really stinks) so it was ok.

I wonder if it will be as quick to get here as mine did to you. I still can't get over that! Let me tell you that it is definately not the norm!

Hey Rocker - there you are!!!

Just in time for another little joke:

A country preacher decided to skip services one Sunday and head to the hills to do some bear hunting. As he rounded the corner on a perilous twist in the trail, he and a bear collided, sending him and his rifle tumbling down the mountainside. Before he knew it, his rifle went one way and he went the other, landing on a rock and breaking both legs.

That was the good news. The bad news was the ferocious bear charging at him from a distance, and he couldn't move. "Oh, Lord," the preacher prayed, "I'm so sorry for skipping services today to come out here and hunt. Please forgive me and grant me just one wish...please make a Christian out of that bear that's coming at me. Please, Lord!"

That very instant, the bear skidded to a halt, fell to its knees, clasped its paws together and began to pray aloud right at the preacher's feet. "Dear God, bless this food I am about to receive...."

There's Bob! Nope, still no news from Netta. I hate to mention it, but my torturist (I mean therapist) was telling me yesterday that his MIL was ill and he may need to cancel appointments next week. Sure enough, I got a call today that she had passed away

Pharlap, no we don't use that term. We say bi-weekly I used to get paid bi-weekly and I hated it! DH's pay schedule is ever weirder...he gets paid on the 10th and 25th of the month. On long months the time between the 25th and 10th seems forever!!

Isn't it awful??? I'm used to weekly pay from my previous job.

I did work in a place some years ago which paid MONTHLY!!! That was hell! You would be rich as king/queen for the first couple of weeks then live like a pauper (sp?) for the rest of the month...

I can't believe that you don't use the word fortnight over there! Over here its just an everyday term. See? You learn something every day on these boards!

Edited to add - Hi Bob, I didn't mean to ignore you there!

What movie are you going to watch Mouse? (if you're still here)

Oh look - I found another clean joke. The moderators will be pleased!!!

A woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office. After his checkup, the doctor called the wife into his office alone.

He said, "Your husband is suffering from a very severe disease, combined with horrible stress. If you don't do the following, your husband will surely die."

"Each morning, fix him a healthy breakfast. Be pleasant, and make sure he is in a good mood. For lunch make him a nutritious meal. For dinner prepare an especially nice meal for him. Don't burden him with chores, as he probably had a hard day. Don't discuss your problems with him, it will only make his stress worse. And most importantly, make love with your husband several times a week and satisfy his every whim." If you can do this for the next 10 months to a year, I think your husband will regain his health completely.

On the way home, the husband asked his wife.

"What did the doctor say?"

"You're going to die," she replied.
