You must live in Disneyland.

Tell that to the woman who's husband left her with her 3 children in the dead of winter in some small town without jobs because the factory closed shop and moved to China, not because they couldn't afford the taxes, like Republicans want you to believe, but because they could squeeze 2 cents more profit per item. The same woman without a car and no money to pay the bills other than a job at WalMart without health insurance because they won't let her work more than 30 hours week so they can avoid those types of benefits.

That is real work, not some face of a corporation who's decisions are not to pay out for someone's treatment that could save their life. You know... Corporate Death Panels.

She makes $11,300 a year without being able to cover her kids, let alone herself with insurance. That is $942.50 a month or $217.50 a week BEFORE she pays taxes, and for those idiots who think she doesn't pay taxes... try again. FICA, Medicare, State Taxes, etc. Do the math and figure out how you pay rent, pay for food, pay for transportation to get herself to work, and perhaps how to fit in buying a few clothes for her kids at the local thrift shop.

This is the reality of what Americans face. This is the real America more so than the picture Republicans like to cast- you know, the welfare queen driving around in the Cadillac with the big screen tv, chomping on her gum while she taps her salon manicured nails on the counter of the Food Stamp Social Worker. Sure, these people exist. They are the ones who make the news, but for every one of them there are hundreds of honest people wanting to do what is right and just be able to afford getting by. And they are the ones who suffer from the Republican stereotypes. I know this because I have worked with these people.

Those are the people who end up in ER because they can't afford a basic check up. Those $3000 in ER bills get written off by hospitals, which means taxpayers are on the hook. Thanks to Ronald Reagan and his COBRA program, our premiums are 15% higher to cover these problems too.

I find it absurd that you would compare the Rolling Stones profits to the salaries of a CEO working for LifeWise or any other health care insurance. There is absolutely NO comparison. The Stones are entertainment. You don't need a Rolling Stones album, you don't need to see them live. You don't need to hear them on the radio or have a t-shirt.

You will, as does every single American in their life need access to health care. Your comparisons for the other examples are equally ludicrous.

When a person dies, the physical body decays and return to dust, from dust it comes and to dust it returns.
The Ba ascends to Heaven while the Ka hovers around the decomposed body on earth.
The best favor one can do for a deceased person is to unite the Ka with the Ba,thru a ritual called 'boulez zain les morts'.

Charles Hopper -- 63 years old and facing mounting financial troubles -- hanged himself in the garage of his Connecticut home last month. But five years earlier, before desperation drove him to that point, he'd been an executive at Lehman Brothers earning seven figures a year.

Hopper's fall from grace -- as revealed in a detailed New York Post feature this week -- is just one in a long series of tragic outcomes that can be traced back to the financial crisis.

Hopper had been a hedge fund advisory executive at Lehman, but he lost his job in 2007, about a year before that firm filed for bankruptcy and triggered the bank panic of 2008. Hopper struggled to find work for two years, eventually landing a job at Appomattox Advisory that paid $150,000. He was underwater on his mortgage and had borrowed and spent a little too freely during the good years -- for himself, pricey watches and a Porsche; for his wife, whatever she wanted, it seems, including cameras, sculling lessons and graduate school courses.

His suicide, sadly, is far from the only recent example of a Wall Street worker driven to extreme measures after experiencing financial troubles.

In 2008, Rene-Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet, a French investment advisor, took his own life after losing both investors' money and his own life savings in Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme. De la Villehuchet reportedly felt consumed by guilt for his role in the loss.

Barry Fox, a research supervisor at Bear Stearns, jumped from his 29th-story apartment in 2008 after learning he wouldn't be hired on by JPMorgan Chase, which was buying up the company.

A few months later, Eric Von der Porten, who founded the California investment fund Leeward Investments, took his own life after suffering major losses in the market downturn of late 2008. Von der Porten, who had been struggling with depression, had a reputation for integrity and community-mindedness.

Similar tragedies have been dotting the landscape in Europe, as a stark financial climate has left many investors and small business owners grappling with overwhelming levels of debt. So many suicides have occurred on the Continent in recent years that some European papers are referring to the trend as "suicide by economic crisis," according to The New York Times.

I was going to stay away from this post, but, WOW.

Dust to dust, does that mean we should hastened our demise if we do not have health insurance?

The sad part of any of these posts is that the arguments run according to party affiliation. Let's all work together for some viable solutions.

You obviously have no clue what socialism is if you really believe that.

Conservatives live in a world of perpetual hypocrisy. The problem is that they run themselves in so many circles they end up biting their own tails.

They are so hung up on Obama that they spite themselves just to be against something.

A quick look at the immigration problem paints this picture. Republicans claim Obama has done nothing about illegals. Yet, his deportations are higher than any previous administration. Now, Republicans are using his deportation numbers against Obama in an attempt to dupe Latino voters into believing Obama is too harsh.

To take this further, I constantly hear Conservatives say we need more border security. Yet, that completely goes against their "more government is evil" nonsense they preach.

Progressives look at the big picture and are constantly evolving. That is why progressive ideology will always trump the "take our country back" mentality. We live in the real world of the now, not some fantasy world of yesteryear.

If Republicans truly believe they are right all the time, why do they work so hard to suppress the right of Americans to vote?

Seriously, if this is about the issues, why attack the rights of voters to decide who's ideas they want to implement?

"To take this further, I constantly hear Conservatives say we need more border security. Yet, that completely goes against their "more government is evil" nonsense they preach."

Border security is not "more government" - it is one of the basic duties of our government to provide border security.

"If Republicans truly believe they are right all the time, why do they work so hard to suppress the right of Americans to vote?

Seriously, if this is about the issues, why attack the rights of voters to decide who's ideas they want to implement?"

The last time I cashed a check, I had to provide identification. Further, IDs are required for a driver's license, bank accounts, at the hospital, buy alcoholic beverages, register at school, and numerous other activities. What is so difficult about providing an ID, if asked, when voting?

Voting is a precious right. Why would you want to dilute that right by allowing those who are not eligible voters, to vote?

I don't think it is the right of Americans to vote that Republicans are trying to stop. It is the Illigal people voting and people voting Illigally.

I live in Florida and we had flooding around me this past week. I walked to the Post Office with some packages and could not get back in to my neighborhood without my photo ID. NO EXCEPTIONS. Yet I could have voted for who is to run the most important office in this country with no ID.

Shag,Nice Try but you only tell one side of the problem. What happens to the hard working middle class worker who works for a small employer when his employer stops covering him with health insurance since the employer can no longer afford it because he was TAXED more. This is nothing but a tax increase for the middle class. The have nots entitlement class get more, the middle class less, the upper class less. What we need is REFORM to fix problems not more taxes to cover up the problem.

I am so glad you brought up illegals voting.

Now that you use that as an argument, please provide some evidence that there is some conspiracy out there that illegals are voting.

I'm not going to let someone just make things up. It is purely voter suppression and it isn't just the purging in Florida.

Seriously, what benefit does an illegal have committing a crime like voting? Are they going to risk getting caught and deported just to cast a vote? How many cases can you cite where this has happened?

More people die from tripping on a sidewalk than get caught in voter fraud.

I have seen voter suppression efforts against college students, where Republicans attempt to pass laws that prevent students from voting in either their home town or their college town in order to suppress the votes. There are numerous attempts by Republicans to suppress votes all across this country.

chuck- is this law perfect? No. If I had my way, we would have Medicare for all and everything would be simplified.

This is a step in the right direction and as things move forward, changes to make it better will be made.

The scenario you created is already happening all over this country. Employers have been cutting back and many cutting out health insurance altogether. I have several friends who have had this happen to them. One of which has a health condition that requires constant management.

This leaves employees with only one choice- seek individual coverage. Individual coverage can cost twice as much as group coverage. Under Individual plans, insurance companies can deny coverage for pre-existing conditions. This leaves many people uninsured including my friend.

What this law does is provide an option for people to join a group (pool) within a state where they won't be denied coverage. This isn't moving fast enough for my friend.

She isn't a "have not" other than not having access to health insurance. She is contributing to society. She works her butt off every single day. She is not a deadbeat.

I am a small business owner, and have an employee. As part of being a small business owner I have responsibilities that require me to insure my employees with Workers Compensation, I have a mandate to carry liability insurance by our landlord. I have to buy a business license. I have to pay taxes for public transportation. It is the cost of business for us to be part of this culture and society. It is what provides roads, sidewalks, buses for people to visit our business. I view health insurance coverage as part of this.

If a business cannot afford these expenses, then they probably shouldn't have employees. We have been there. We have cut employees when times were slow, we have expanded when times are good. Under the Affordable Care Act, they will at least have access to coverage.

Nice try. Unfortunately, this was a study done by the Heritage Foundation, a partisan right winged think tank organization largely associated with the Koch Brothers.

Read the last sentence in italics at the bottom of the Cutting Edge News article you cite.

That is the equivalent of trusting an Insurance Company's paid "Independent" Medical Examiner to give an unbiased report on an injury you sustained due to their insured negligence.

Alipac.us the same organization where William Gheen suggested "Obama had become a dictator with plans to create a police state and use undocumented immigrants to wage war on White America"? The same guy who suggested people should start contemplating "some type of extra-political activities that I can't really talk about because they're all illegal and violent"?

Wow! That is some trustworthy sources.

Now your citing Andrew Breitbart's website? Seriously?

This is the same scam Republicans used to try to scare Seniors into believing ObamaCare will reduce $500 billion in Medicare without painting the full picture of what measures are taken to make up for them including closing the donut hole in prescription costs, providing free health screenings, etc.

Or when Republicans claimed there would be "death panels", which under the current system exists when insurance companies deny necessary procedures.

Or when Republicans claimed ObamaCare will get between you and your doctor, failing to recognize that is exactly what health insurance companies do already.

You are grasping for straws, and doing so poorly when you keep citing biased information.

If I went out and starting using quotes or commentaries by people like Rachel Maddow, Ed Shultz, Think Progress, Media Matters, etc everybody would say the exact same thing to me.

Why would anyone take Op Ed pieces as truth is beyond me, and that apparently is one of the biggest problems with most modern media. It is slanted with opinions instead of just the facts. Op Eds, Bloggers, Talk Show hosts like Bill O'Reilly, Rachel Maddow, Rush Limbaugh, Chris Matthews, political surrogates, analysts, etc are often taken literally as fact when most of it is opinion.

Some may present a fact, but then taint it quickly with opinion. That isn't news and that is what you are presenting.

hmmmm - business must be slow. Someone seems to have a lot of time to waste on debate.

Interesting letter from our health provider, Kaiser Permanente:

https://info.kaiserpermanente.org/html/imcrlp/kp/healthcare_reform.html?kp_shortcut_referrer=kp.org/reform

It clearly outlines many of the provisions of AAC.

There is a French Haitian who has attended, visited, observed over 3000 Voodoo rituals, you really ought to read his book.
He described the musical instruments used in the ceremony, the way you hold the handle and the sound it made vibrated thru the astral plane where the spirits are aroused and eventually summoned down to earth.
Never thought of that, striking instruments to affect the atmosphere of the astral plane.
