According to Egyptian religion, when the physical body exhales, the Ba which is a person wisdom and knowledge ascends to heaven while the Ka hovers around the tomb where the physical body rots.
Funny thing is that the Ka retains the memory not the Ba.
This is good to know in case your loved one past away and his Ka returns to seek food and shelter.
Ever see your dead relative dropping in looking for chow?
PS.makes no difference if he is covered by Obamacare or that, thats totally irrelevant.

I'm surprised there wasn't such Republican outcry when Reagan implemented COBRA in the 80s.

COBRA required all ERs/hospitals to accept incoming patients, no matter if they could pay or not. Then forced hospitals to cover those costs, which ended up getting passed onto taxpayers and health insurance policy holders.

Americans pay about $1000 more each year for health insurance to cover uninsured ER visits thanks to Ronald Reagan.

Seriously... where is all the outrage???

More on death and dying-
The Tibetans have ways of telling if death is just round the corner-
if you dream of picking red flowers in the fields is one of them.
Anyway,if death is imminent, then prepare to die,one thing to remember is not to get too anxious to reincarnate ,shop around first !

Paul Krugman's observation on those who oppose The Affordable Health Care Act.
What was and is really striking about the anti-reformers is their cruelty.

It would be one thing if, at any point, they had offered any hint of an alternative proposal to help Americans with pre-existing conditions, Americans who simply can’t afford expensive individual insurance, Americans who lose coverage along with their jobs.

But it has long been obvious that the opposition’s goal is simply to kill reform, never mind the human consequences. We should all be thankful that, for the moment at least, that effort has failed.
I would like to know how the opponents to this Affordable Health Care Act justify their callous disregard for their fellow man.

I would change the question he asks to, "I would like to know how the opponents to this Affordable Health Care Act justify their callous disregard for their fellow AMERICAN."

I have heard too many Republicans suggest it is the "me, me, me" generation... and I would have to agree, except they are the ones only concerned about themselves, and even then, many are doing so against their own benefit.

Actually, that was my question, which followed Krugman's quote.

At the very least they could show concern for their fellow American. But as you pointed out, the opponent's "I've got mine" attitude seems to prevail throughout this discussion.

People can afford 486 dollars a month car payment and thats not cheap and then add gas and maintenance and insurance, easily 600 dollars.
So how much is their body worth,of course a car can take you to work, but astral projection is cheaper and faster, think about it.

Lostmymojo, there are millions of people who don't mismanage their funds and due to circumstances beyond their control still can't afford the high cost of health care in this country. And can you just ignore the health of children and Americans with pre-existing conditions?

lostmymojo you should be happy that these people are being forced into being responsible American citizens. Now they have to decide if they are going to stick with the $486 car payment or put that money into health insurance.

your assumption that people should automatically do what is right is noble. in a perfect world it is righteous. in a perfect world libertarianism would work because everybody would be able to trust each other to do what is right. unfortunately, history has proven time and time again that we don't live in a perfect world.

irresponsible people who don't have health insurance cost me an additional $1000 a year for my health insurance thanks to the laws Ronald Reagan passed in COBRA. Taxpayers are on the hook for unpaid medical bills.

This law puts everybody in the pool of responsibility. You should be happy.

Insurance is about pooling and sharing of risks,it would not work if more people get sick.
486 dollars may sound like a lot of money, but it is not if the bill comes to 100,000 dollars.
For many years,I have a high deductible policy with $5k deductible and I never exceed $2500 medical expenses in a year which I paid out of my own pocket.
I often get a cash discount for paying on the spot, sometimes as much as 34% which is what they grant the insurance companies.

Automobile insurers can reject high risk drivers and they are forced into assigned risk pool and pay higher premum for lower coverage.
As responsible adults,we should take care of the small stuff and let insurers insure us for the big ones, how many of us are having cancer,AIDS,bubonic plaque, heart disease ?
Diabetis is a big problem due to our diet and lifestyle, they used to call India and China the diabetic capitals of the world, now it looks like we are sharing the title.

COBRA?
Cobra sounds good, but it is expensive.
Ask anyone who has been layoff in 2008 and still have not found a job, that person surely cannot afford Cobra .
In some societies, family members tend to live together or close to each other,if one member is sick, the others are able to pitch in and help.
It could be delivering homecook meals, caregiving, running errands and paying some bills.
Do you know the Japanese hospitals do not have kitchen facility,so the family members can bring the patient home cook meals. If a patient does not have family, then the hospital will arrange carry out.
When I was growing up in HK,young women are sometimes forced to work in dance halls as 'dance girls' (what is that Tina Turner song?' to payoff their parent's medical bills?Or thats what they told their clients?

Lostmymojo, like most people associate COBRA with employee health insurance portability, but this was only a minor part of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. That part is called, “Portability of Health Coverage”.

Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act portion of COBRA, every American who has health insurance pays about $1000 more each year to cover uninsured patients who visit hospitals and ERs across America.

This was and continues to be an unfunded mandate that requires hospitals to treat anyone who enters a hospital no matter if they could afford treatment or not.

Hospitals are forced to eat the costs by passing them onto everybody else. Any unpaid debts are passed on to the American taxpayer or bundled into health insurance rates for those that are covered. So, we are already paying for the uninsured thanks to President Reagan.

Then you have the Title X portion of COBRA that affects businesses. It stated that a qualifying employer would be assessed an excise tax if it does not offer portability to its employers if they lose coverage… much like the tax that will be levied to those who refuse to carry health coverage under the Affordable Health Care Act. Most, if not all employers choose to offer COBRA instead of being levied the tax.

This is why I point to COBRA as a perfect example of Republican hypocrisy.
