Hey - check this out, I thought it was pretty intesting (it's supposed to be true - I wouldn't know)

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both were shot in the head.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners.
Both successors were named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names comprise fifteen letters.

Booth ran from the theatre and were caught in a warehouse.
Oswald ran from a warehouse and was caught in a theatre.

Booth and Oswald were both assassinated before their trials.

HERE'S THE KICKER:
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe....

Tiger - for some reason my computer won't load the first picture but the second picture kind of reminds me of a young Queen Elizabeth II!

Watch out everyone - we may have royalty in our presence...

LOL Bow to the queen!!!

That first pic takes a while to load for some reason... (?) Nope, no royalty that I know of - we've got gypsy blood, not english! Everyone in the family from my mom back is 100% Hungarian. My great great granddad was sheriff of a town in Hungary that I can't remember the name of right now. Most of the family were gypsies. Lived along the danube. My great grandma did tarot card readings out of an apartment in NY.

Yes ma'am miss Zilvy, I'm here, I'm still shopping and I did stop by and *gasp* post in both threads! Too funny, OMG staples??? I about died when Gunther ate Nicorette!

Good news Pharlap! I have box #1 all packaged up, taped and ready to go! Will be sending it off tomorrow providing I get done at the doctor's office before the post office closes. I got lucky that there was one item left I needed to get to put in it. Then it dawned on me to look in my cupboard and there it was I kinda haven't been out of the house since Sunday evening. If I don't have cabin fever, I dunno what it is!

Yes I did, and the crumbs too! LOL Our Buddy does that, he'll take a few kibbles out, then eat them and leave crumbs But our cat food bowl is now in a cat carrier (without the door) so it's on the floor but Gunther can't get to it. The crumbs are more contained We got tired of picking Buddy up You see he's too big to jump and poor Tom's hip is getting worse and he doesn't always make it either. We used to have their food bowl on the counter.

This is the first time this week that I seem to be catching up!
I've got about six or seven packages to pack up but that can wait until tommorow.
I thought I'd log on a bit earlier and see if I could catch up with a few posters but it looks like the've already gone to bed!

What's happening with all the water in your part of the world?
I was listening to a news report last night that said that surburban streets might not be repaired until Xmas in some places and it could be up to five years before all the bridges are fixed.
Is that true?

The roads are still full of potholes on the Gold Coast - driving around is like an obstacle course! It wouldn't matter if it took until Christmas for them to fix it - the Gold Coast is one big permanent roadworks situation anyway

I haven't heard anything about the bridges though - must be up Brisbane way I'd say...

Hi guys', well I don't know what bridges they would be talking about. None of the major ones in Brisbane that's for sure. It could be some small locality type ones. Beenleigh got beaten up pretty bad in the flood but we were down there on Sunday and the water has gone down and all the bridges we had to cross were all intact.

Have you two seen the news coverage of the election for the seat on the coast. I suppose you have to vote Pharlap. Tell me what you think of Kim Beasley as PM. Now I don't mean what political party do you vote for, just do you think he looks like a good choice for PM, he looked like a slob on the news tonight. YUK

Hi Nettak

No, I didn't have to vote again - it wasn't my seat...

I don't want to sound shallow but I just don't think that Beazley has the right image to be PM (I feel really awful saying that as he's probably a very nice person). I think that Labor would have a better chance with someone else at the helm...

You're probably going to laugh but I really liked Keating! He wasn't afraid to mince words and I like that Didn't make him a popular boy though...

Hi nettak, Beasley as Prime Minister?
He probably will be but he hasn't got an ounce of statesmanship in him. He's a slob.
The trouble is there's no other alternative. Howard hasn't got a prayer of getting in and besides he's such a wimpy little twit.
He makes me laugh on the odd few times he goes to the bush. He wears that bloody silly hat and pretends he's a cocky! He wouldn't know the difference between a cows udder and its ar$e.
pharlap Just read your contributions to Irish Humour. ROFTL
I've just left a little story for you there.

Is it slow getting into everything tonight or what. I have had real problems being able to open up the threads.

Well I will tell you both, I am no snob, but Beazley is a SLOB, and I cringe at the thought of him running our country. He is a big man but he does not take care to put out the right image in my minds eye. You can be big and look good but I don't think anyone has told him this fact yet.

I want a PM with a bit of CLASS and someone we can at least let the world see without being ashamed to say this is the leader of our country.

Can you remember before he got elected?
GST will never, never happen.
Petrol excise can't be reduced? Well it has been, but too little too late.
He's just doubled the first house owners rebate to $14,000.
Give him another few months of panic and he'll buy us all a new car and a house at this rate!!!
The dopey bugger couldn't run a tiddlywinks game.
And how about his mate Costello. what a smug, self serving mongrel he is. Give him half a chance and he'd pinch your kids lunch money!

I vote for MEL GIBSON, he at least is nice to look at (from my point of view anyway), and he has more than half a brain.

Hey Bob I wouldn't mind a new car, do you think he will throw in the fuel as well.

Bob - don't even get me started on Costello!!! I don't know anyone else who can actually make themselves look creepier when they smile... it gives me the shudders (ugh!!!)

I tell you what though - If little Johnny goes as far as to give me a new house and car I think I can be persuaded to change my tune!
