Hello Lynn & Everyone ^ there!!!

Hmmmmmmm...To be quite honest...I no longer have a particular favorite Auction site. However, I must say that as a long time member of eBay, I have had my most success there. I specialized in listing rare/oop and children's books. There is always a demand for quality books and this is the place where your items are the most appreciated!!

However, I have since last year been exclusively listing on BidBay.com. I don't list my quality books there because there are not enough bidders and at this time is not worth the effort. I mainly list contemporary collectible items. I think I will try to list again at the other place..just to move some of the things that have been sitting on this other site. I've never had problems selling my items at eBay..and Thank Goodness there are alternatives to go back to!!! (JMHO)

Sincerely,

Lil,

Oh my! This is a shock! You said there aren't enough bidders at BidBay? I think my heart can't take this type of news anymore. I thought they had it covered with the cruiser trip and the 5 million users (or whatever # they say they bought).

I list some of my books at half.com and have had a little success. They do send the money on time. eBay is the best for books though.

I think when I get up and going again and my new camera arrives, I'll be headed back to eBay because after all is said and done, they do have the traffic like no other. Everyone has to pay dues in this world and if you rented a store front, the dues would be much higher.

Have a great day and thanks for posting to this thread. "Fredonia" thanks you too! LOL!

I have to take dutchbid off my list, as it does not seem to be around anymore.

If it came back it would be nice, but no one seems to have an idea what happened to it..

I do enjoy the humor at Popula, and the police auction site Property Room, has some nice things. It is kind of cool.

For me, there is just no other sight except for Ebay. I can go in there and look for just about anything in search and find several to choose from. I have always had good luck with the customer service, ebay has been good to me. I have sold A LOT and I have bought A LOT there!!! It will always be # 1 as long as it chooses to be. I do not mind the basic fees because ebay has BUYERS, which is what a true auction sight is really all about!

After checking out Bidville, LowestBids, ePier and others, I'd have to say eBay are the only site that seem to have it together. The others have plenty of items but scant few bids, slow download times, wonky, cluttered & confusing interfaces, all which conspire to send bidders elsewhere. I'm not interested in being in part of a social club on the various chat boards, I'm interested in making $$, so for me, eBay it is, out of neccessity alone.

I would say for hard to find items Ebay or any other auction site that may have what you are looking for. For up and coming sites Bidbay and Epier, sooner or later they will be on top.

I can find virtually ANYTHING at ebay...hard to find or not. In fact I don't believe I have ever typed in search and not found what I was looking for. EXCELLENT sight, EBAY.
You already know my opinion on BuddyBay

You can find anything and everything on ebay, hard to find or not. BidBay is not going to be on top unless it's on top of the heap of dotcoms going under. LOL!

epier started out nicely. Haven't been there for awhile. Listed a few things on Bidville which closed without bids in two relists so I don't think they're going to get much of my listings.

ebay - listed 6 items between 4/26 and 4/30, sold 5 for more than I thought they would go for, real cash!! Received everyone's money within a day or two and all is shipped out, with feedback starting to roll in.

Which site do you think I'd choose? People would be foolish not to pick ebay during this time. They're the only ones with bidders!

I usually don't bother with threads past two pages, but couldn't resist taking a look at this one.

Are you in any way associated with eHammer.com?

I see that eHammer, other than saving a nickel on the listing fee, has the exact same fee schedule for a $10 item.

Is there really that much of a bidding frenzy going on over there?

I just checked out ehammer and went to my favorite category.

All of the items I looked at, and there were at least 10, all had a reserve, and it had not yet been met. I don't see all that many successful bids happening over there.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong category.

The auction page layout is horrendous. You are only able to view about 1/2 the page, at least on my monitor, before scrolling top to bottom.

There ARE some nice items, but, the layout is a big turnoff. JMNSHO

Edited to add: Of the 38 auctions on the ending today list, 25 have at least 1 bid, but only 2 have met the reserve and will end with a winning bid.
The other 23 the reserve has not been met. :/

I like Http://www.Bidville.com the best. It is very easy to navigate and bidding is picking up.
I sometimes find that I have to bid on Ebay because I can't find the Precious Moments figures that I still need for my collection at Bidville.... but would like to do all my buying as well as selling there. I only put high dollar items up at ebay.

Of all the new sites I'm starting to like BargainandHaggle.com the best. Actually having some success on the site having sold 2 collectible items within a few days of being on the site. In addition turned down another offer and had a bidder turn down one other offer. So 4 auction offers within a week isn't too bad. Their concept of prices being negotiable is certainly a novel idea! An auction niche that is different and not being served by others. The price negotiating can be clumsy at times and it's easy to turn off a bidder by saying the wrong thing. As I said I did manage to turn off one bidder --- still not sure what I said to scare them off.

Have had very little success on ePier, Bidville, Onlineauction.com, Dutchbid, eDeal, Amazon, and Yahoo recently. Bidding is dieing down on eBay as well and their policies are becoming more heavyhanded.

Hello. Just adding our thoughts. We list on Ebay, Yahoo, Bidville and for vintage Playboys the Playboy auction site. Bidville we hardly get any bids. But do like the site.
Ebay was fantastic for us, but the last two months have been terrible. And we do this full time. Plus getting more non payers on Ebay. Now Yahoo is another story. Been on it for years. Did really well. Then the fees kicked in and it died. But guess what? The last two months our sales are real strong!! And bigger bids than Ebay. So we are posting more to Yahoo. Signed up for EPier, but not much action for what we sell. Mainly sports collectibles. Plus music items like cds, tapes, etc.

Definately www.sellyouritem.com .. 2 weeks old and growing steadily!

THE BEST bulk loader/saved auctions software (from the Gold's site)!

Still selling certain things on ebay but moving as much as I can over! Expecting great things from SYI. I hope it's a big success!
