Paul has mentioned this problem in several threads and I am getting same thing. An inordinate percentage of buyers using Paydirect and not including shipping.
How is this happening, does anyone know?
Does the link to pay via Paydirect on the buyer's auction page come up with a total that does not include shipping? This problem is epidemic lately, and is wasting a lot of time posting back and forth, annoying to both sides. If anyone can offer some insight as to where the hitch is, I will start harping on it to Yahoo - thanks.

Sent to Yahoo - feel free to copy, alter, whatever and send..
~~
Have an inordinate # of auction buyers paying me and not including shipping cost. This is a terrific time waster - happening 1 out of ever 2 transactions and I can't figure out why.
Is it possible that they are hitting a link and it is filling in the amount (of the sale less shipping) automatically? If so, please re-think because servicing every other deal twice is a problem.
Imagine being forced to write 5 people a day who were trying to be efficient and saying "thanks for paying, please send another $3.20 so I can ship?"
I can kiss positive feedback good-bye at that point, and so goes my sell through rate and before you know it, I disable Paydirect to save my business.
Thank you

VeryModern- I have had the same thing happen!
And I even had a buyer tell me "I thought PayDirect would add the shipping/insurance". Uh, not on this planet!
I have sent money through PayDirect and didn't have a problem. I tend to think that there are just a bunch of inattentive customers out there. Still, one must wonder...

It is horrible in any business when you have employees or leaders who really are making it up as they go, meaning they lack knowledge
I have never received a bill-request for payment, but 2 buyers have received them from me and both were totally confused. One gave up and the other has asked me 5 questions, why? should it appear as NOT clear and easy to them. Why do they have such a small straight lined comment box??????
Help, it is awful and I can see hardly anyone using the amaturish looking service that leaves questions unanswered
Pleaze Hire Auction oriented people!

At this point it's a better plan to run the Pay Direct ad in your ad, but don't turn pay Direct "on." Notify the buyer the old fashioned way and mention Pay Direct as an option for payment, along with the total charges.
I thought it was humerous that several customers wrote back and said, "I want to use pay Direct and I am set up to do so, but I can't figure out where to go to send you the money." So I wandered around to find the answer, and I couldn't find it either!
I finally clicked on the link to open a NEW Pay Direct account, and got to the page I was looking for...even though I already had an account. Then I bookmarked it and sent the link to they customers and told them to bookmark it. That's the only way I ever found to get there.
Yes, it's difficult to believe Yahoo could be that screwed up in everything they do. But it's true, and it's still a better place to sell most items than anywhere else because there are buyers looking and buying and because it is free.

THANKS VERYMODERN - it has been come a endless problem with any of our buyers using PayDirect.
We all need to alert Yahoo to this serious problem. Thanks for bring this up for everyone - I am guessing it must be the way the payment page is constructed - but whatever it is, it is a serious problem. Some of my buyers have gotten so disgusted when I had to go back to them for shipping fees, that they went to PayPal to send them! Seriously, I have had 3 buyers return to PayPal to send the shipping fees because of what seems to be a confusion on the format at PayDirect.
LET ALL WRITE YAHOO - THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM!

Just received my verification snail mail today form Paydirect. I just shreaded it. I then deleted the account.
With all of the problems and lack of response to same, I don't need more problems with another Pay*** site.
I had enough to do, keeping up with PayPals constant mood swings, and changes. Paydirect started out wrong, and is getting worse.

VM--I don't understand what is going on. I haven't had any problems.
What link to pay via PayDirect do you have in your auctions that comes up with a total?
Sorry, I am just confused.

labbie - if a buyer is having a problem I've gone to the ended auction page and tried to use the "send buyer a paydirect bill" link. All goes well - there is a place to enter the shipping cost but when you SEND you get an error "amounts don't match".
That is one problem.
Separate and apart from that, I have a lot of buyers who use Paydirect and wind up not including shipping. I have not paid for an auction via paydirect myself (using a link) so I don't know the hoops involved but I suspect they need a design tune up - like make it obvious to someone paying that they need to put in the shipping cost.
In spite of this I am getting paid via Paydirect left and right. A fair number of people still whine about Paypal, but in the end they Pay Direct and the stuff ships, and it all comes out alright.

I haven't been receiving PayDirect payments lately, even though I'm not taking credit cards through PayPal anymore (since I didn't upgrade). I "almost" got a PayDirect payment today, though, and Yahoo has REALLY SCREWED UP PAYDIRECT.
I opened my mailbox to find a "John Doe has sent you money!" notice from PayDirect. It stated:
"John Doe ([email protected]) would like to send you money through Yahoo! PayDirect with the following personal message:
Message Title: Yahoo! Auction:4080XXXX
Message: XXXX(auction title he won)
This is payment for Yahoo! Auction ID: 4080XXXX
Please ship the item to this address:
John Doe
Main Street
Any City, USA
In order to receive the money, you need to confirm your identity by ANSWERING A QUESTION the sender has designated at the following link.
Never furnish confidential information such as Social Security Numbers or payment account numbers in response to an identity confirmation question. You can confirm your address at the following link:
Inserted here was a hyperlink to a "confirm" page. John Doe didn't put a QUESTION on the request, so I didn't know the ANSWER to type into the "answer" box. There were two buttons, CONFIRM and REFUSE. The first time I hit "confirm" and got an error message telling me I have to "answer the question" to get my money. (THERE WAS NO QUESTION TO ANSWER.) The second time I tried it I hit "refuse" and the payment is now cancelled. GREAT!
Would someone like to tell me what IDIOT came up with this latest "improvement" to PayDirect???
Mind you, this is IN ADDITION to the fact that the payment I just cancelled was ONLY FOR THE BID PRICE, not for the total amount including shipping that I sent to John Doe in my EOA email.
My gosh, the buyers are usually so inattentive (or stupid, take your pick) that they can barely figure out how to put a dollar amount in a box and hit "send". WHY ON EARTH would Yahoo expect them to be able to MAKE UP A QUESTION for the seller, especially one that the seller CAN ANSWER and HAS TO ANSWER in order to get paid???
If John Doe had UNDERSTOOD that he was *supposed to* put a question in the box, what do you think he would have asked me??? "What's my dog's name?" or "How old am I?" or "WILL YOU SHIP THIS TO ME FREE SINCE I DIDN'T INCLUDE POSTAGE IN MY PAYMENT?"
Now I know why I haven't had a PayDirect payment in two weeks. The buyers were so INTIMIDATED by the process (or didn't know what QUESTION to ASK me) that they just sent money orders instead. I've had more money orders lately than I had all summer. One step forward and 10 steps back.
ARE YOU LISTENING, YAHOO??? If you're OFFENDED that I called you idiots, then so be it. You DESERVE it this time. Now go undo all the changes you made to the PayDirect software and FIX THE PROBLEMS, or the few sellers you have now accepting it will all CANCEL IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that question and answer game is optional. I've only had one person use it, and I just emailed him back and told him I didn't have time for such nonsense and to simply send me the money. He did.
BTW, so far my buyers are not using the message field to add such information like what the payment is for or shipping address like they do on Paypal. So typically I need to search my records with their email address to find out what the payment is for.
Another inferior product from Yahoo but it's free. That seems to be a common trait of what yahoo gets into.

The question and answer game is intended for personal payments not for auctions...guess they need to make that more clear.

I admit there's been some hurtles with getting PayDirect to work out smoothly after an auction is complete. So here's my two cents on what I do.
In my EOA, I state if they would like me to send them a request payment with Yahoo! PayDirect to just let me know when they email back their shipping address. If they respond back to do so, I go to close page to that auction, click on it and then the "send PayDirect Bill, enter the shipping and add to the end of message (which would be better if it appeared as a block instead of a small line) Here's request. Thanks, "my name".
So far that's worked best for me and sales using them are continuing to increase. I get fewer "do you accept paypal" now too! Yahoo!
But I simply copy and paste my standard reply about the charges they now impose.
Still a happy Yahoo! PayDirect Camper

Well, another buyer paid and no shipping included - I wrote Yahoo about this PayDirect problem yesterday, as we discussed here on this thread, but only got a form response.
I am sick of this problem, and if they don't change their format or whatever they are doing which is causing this, I'm just going to drop PayDirect - so few customers use it anyway I don't think it would be a biggie as we have our own Merchant Account, and also use PAYPAL, and we LOVE PAYPAL.....no continual foul ups with PayPal.

Yahoo will tinker and the buyers will become more familiar and they will meet in the middle.
I am staying with Paydirect - no question.
Did everyone see you can put your bank on My Yahoo now... They are teamed with over 200 online banks, so no signing in to see if "mooooved" money moved.

Okay, it's fixed.
If you go to the link from My Auctions and send the buyer a bill, there is a slot for shipping.
Next screen shows the correct total and Yahoo does the math.
See all you non believers, what'd I tell ya?

Granee- ROTFLMAO at your post!
zz- Last time a bunch of us bombarded them with email asking for the customer's address with all PAyDirect transactions, they did (sorta) add that in for us. It's not quite as easy as I wanted it to be because almost everyone is just now signing up & using PayDirect for the very first time, so no one has a verified address yet. It isn't usable quite yet, but it will be before long.
Anyway, the point I was making is that I think they do listen, selectively.

OH NO! Having to send out a bill from Yahoo is the reason I don't use BillPoint. I don't have time to go in and play with Yahoo's system for every sale - PLUS I really prefer my people use PayPal.
So apparently, the shipping solution isn't really a solution unless you send a PayDirect invoice - well, will have to live with it as it is as I do not plan to play the on line invoice game. I really prefer the way PayPal works, no bother with on line invoices, and never a problem regarding shipping.
Oh well - such is live..

jwpc- you don't HAVE to send an invoice for your customer to be able to send you money. Many who are net savvy just sign up for PayDirect and send you the money through it. It's the people who don't "get it" that you have to invoice. If a customer emails me asking what to do or that (s)he's having trouble figuring it out, then I make it easy on him/her by just sending an invoice. It takes about a minute and to me that's no big deal and is only good customer service.
