I desided to go look around Bidbay and see if they have anything I collect listed. Was very "unhappy" normaly when I clicked and went in they showed how many items was listed so if it said "0" I would not wast my time looking in that catagory now the listing numbers are gone so inorder to find out you have to go into the catagory to see "0" I checked 4 catagories three had "0" 1 had 2 items listed. I wont shop there again.
I like Dmagazine and seen they had the listing numbers from the front page of Bidbay from may 2 to jan 31 so I did some figureing it was very interesting.
may 2 to april 25 listing -21,885; april 25 to april 18 listings -15,639; april 18 to april 11 +6,982; april 11 to april 4 +102,950; april 4 to march 28 -250,843; march 28 to march 21 +25,456; march 21 to march 14 "0"; march 14 to march 7 -85,440; march 7 to Feb 28 -903,378; Fed 28 to Feb 21 +431,299; Fed 21 to Feb 14 +196,916; Feb 14 to Feb 7 +207,506; Feb 7 to Jan 31 +168,246;
Now that is what I call playing with the numbers. And Dmagazine has a collen by them saying that bidbay still does not show there listings on the front page right. If they have one auction and its a dutch with 1,000 items they count it as 1,000 auctions. I see bidbay has not changed still playing games like everone is stupied. Good luck Bidbay. Have a nice buying/selling day.

Coolvette, You are a peach! If what I am saying is wrong explain. I am sorry but Bidbay is not what I want in a auction site or should I say "Game show site." Question did Bidbay take the listing numbers out of the catagories and is the numbers Dmagazine showing the numbers taken from the Bidbay front page on those dates. I think Bidbay plays numbers games you see almost 900,000 listings on the front page go inside and have to click catagories to find "0" listings after awhile people will look on Bidbay as a joke is that what the sellers want all I am saying is be honest and up front if there is "0" listings in a catagory say it so buyers dont wast their time clicking. Have a nice buying/selling day.

Game show site?

Sorry, your dead wrong! I've been a member of Bidbay.com for over a year. I care not about Dmagazine and numbers! The bottom line is buying and selling. You want to talk about morals, heck go check the Ebay site, their you will see your great morals and good luck to you!

Bidbay is a excellent alternative site to Ebay!

This will be all I've got to say on this matter! Good luck to you, you've got good intensions but your barking up the wrong tree!

Fiqure it out, I have!

You no what is funny I started selling on line at the same time Bidbay came on line. I listed only in Bidbay and also worked hard for about 9 months trying to sell there. But because of things like the above and "more" I moved my items to Ebay & BooHoo. I left BooHoo when they went nut's and I have no listings in ebay at this time because normal this time of year sales fall off "So I will save my money" and list there in the fall. If anyone likes Bidbay I am happy for them. All I am doing is asking Questions why they do things the way they do. I hope they dont think the buyer is stupied. All I am saying is honesty is the best policy. Good luck to you Coolvette I wish you many sales. Have a nice buying/selling day.

Yes, they have known to do that haven't they? Bidbay is a great alternative to Ebay. It has teeth!!! I told you the truth and being a business man for over 20 years it's best really not to support a complete monopoly. Anyone that does this is a complete fool. Of course this is JMHO!

Numbers? You really think Ebay is honest with their numbers? Sorry, you've got another site coming. Auction sites all brag. It's the name of the game.

. If anyone likes Bidbay I am happy for them. All I am doing is asking Questions why they do things the way they do.

OK, my challenge to you is to go ask Ebay this same question?

Bidbay CEO George Tannous cannot answer on this board. Why? Do some reading.

telwil,

I do find you a intelligent individual, that is why I responded after I said I wouldn't.

All auction sites have problems. The problems on Bidbay compare nothing to the problems on Ebay.

I'll challenge you! Call Ebay on the phone.

Catch my drift?

A rule of thumb for getting a realistic estimate of the number of listings at BidBay: divide the number of items listed on the homepage by 10.

I dredged up one of my prior posts on this topic. Here a link that can help explain BidBay's exaggeration of facts.

http://www.freehomepages.com/therealstats/

The info is about 2 months old and some of the links will not work since BidBay changed their category structure. However, it gives insight into the situation.

Enjoy.

coolvette you really need to get a new line as this one is so OLD!!!!!!
"You know it's amazing what Anonymous cowards post, isn't it".
Last time I looked you had zero auctions listed on Bidbay and hadn't had any listed for a long time. I figured up once and you had sold a whopping $135.00 bucks worth of stuff during a year and that included a 50.00 store! That was the last time I looked, which was a while back. He may have struck it rich there since then.
Why would we NEED to call ebay? We actually have SALES and BIDDERS over there. I have never had a problem at ebay that could not be handled with a simple email. I have found their customer service to be outstanding, personally. I stick with the basic listing feature and costs are minimum. One month last fall I made over 1K and the fees total were less that $100.00 which I will gladly pay for bidders! I took out a classified for some tires and it cost me over 6 bucks and I got no calls! Anything that I can list will be listed at Ebay, as that is where the traffic is.
I really see no need to have all this dragged back up with you. You know how we feel about BB and we CERTAINLY know how you feel about BB and "You know it's amazing what Anonymous cowards post, isn't it" as you have told us SOOOOOOOOOOO many times. I am putting you on my ignore list!!!!!

I am sorry Coolvette but I have never known Bidbay to have teeth as a real auction site. In my mind I can only compare them to a small dog hidding in the dark barking like a big dog. For me it is important for a auction site to be honest and give me the freedom to ask guestions. I have seen the bidbay reaction to guestions they dont like. Why is it that Bidbay is the only auction site that count's listings and such in this way? Sites like Bidville, Auctionaddict, Edeal, Epier ect look like they are a lot more up front about the numbers. And yes "Bidbay is a games show site" come on in click are auctions find the billie and win a prize game show right. They only do this to drive up their page view numbers. I know that is what it did when I was selling there not hardly any sales just alot of views from people wanting to win. I have been in sales for over 32 years I want sales not views for prizes. When you auction ends and you have no bids so it is aut relisted if you had 50 views the counter does not go back to "0" it stays at 50 so after 4 relisted it you shows 100 hits but that is not for that week it is for the month "That is another way they play with the numbers". And as a buyer I do not want to see what they try to make you believe on the fron page 900,000 listing making me believe they have that me auctions then go in and click catagories and most of the have "0" or "3" items listed it makes me mad. "I know I will not shop there anymore." This is only a few of the problems this site has. So as I said before honesty is the best policy Coolvette.

Gotta, I found you information very interesting. But only the shadow knows the truth about Bidbays numbers all we can do is guess.

I would list on Bidbay and buy on Bidbay but only if they become more of a true auction site. No games no can you believe this numbers. and give their sellers back their freedom to ask guestions and get answers. Have a nice buying/selling day. By the way Coolvette I still sell but the auction sites I sell in is real auction sites not game show sites.

Hello Don,

Where have you been? I have my questions concerning BB, and you know I haven't posted concerning BB, however I do have a couple of questions! Are they negatives? I don't know, the masses will have to answer that. Perhaps you can give me an insite?

One of the questions is "How is BidBay going to handle the future? The folks have a problem with listings, attitude, etc." Please give me a response that isn't promotional but rather a solid insiteful working into BidBay.

What is the answer?

I'll post my observations in a later post given my time constraints.

I would hope that all would realize that I don't destroy but build, but I have a difficult time building when my belief is doesn't support my perception.

Hi, vette, long time no see, BidyBay has lost nothing on me, their long time, old cheerleaders seem to have disappeared, or at least stopped cheerleading here, once exposed as staffers on their payroll, they suddenly clam-up for some strange reason, at least you are a known personality online.

The sites still not stable, after over a year, the site hasn't even come close to even replacing Gold's, many founding members have left, or been thrown off the site, the CEO's sense of humor, seems to have dimmed, quit a bit, shareholders and Investors, maybe, they hate to see him, wasting all their well earned and donated money, to the nice man's playtoy, and zapping thread forays, free speech is dead there, even members just answering his own questions, get zapped.

Read their archives, or any old threads lately, that is, the ones that they haven't hidden someplace else, like how the fees, chat policy's, shop valuations, moderation calls, have all changed for the worst, since the scotch seems to have dried up, always call for your problems, there's so many questions and problems, their afraid their own membership will fill-up every board with the numerous complaints and problems about why the changes and how come I am now paying for something that doesn't work, and never did, great auction site, NOT, a comedy of mismanagement and errors, lip service and misdirection, most of those left are nice people, but most have also won money, or prizes, or really have multiple anon-user names and/or are staffers, really a good example, of how not to do it, and the little dictorship goes on.

Anon, and proud of it, and no where else but here, crychek

Luck vette.

The simple truth of the matter is that BidBay is in its death throes, and their antics are excellent material for any study of the macabre.

I feel sorry for the management. They have simply used the wrong business model for the wrong business. They would probably do fine selling used cars in gorilla suits, or washing machines with free toaster giveaways, or kennel services with their experience with poodles.

But their attempt to take on eBay, and their delusion that they were actually second to it at any time is the product of fantasy turned pathological, probably due to extreme pressure. Due to the fact that they never really had any true understanding of the vast differences between bricks/mortar and online marketing and psychology. This is a doomed dotcom and its only fitting that its management should be acting totally desperate. Not poodle nor PT will save it.

I find it amazing that the Bidbay ceo has the audacity to post here without permission first when he has been suspended many times before, YET he threatens to sue those who come back and post on his boards after they have been suspended AND canceled unjustly. Who makes the rules here??? Bidbay CEO or AW CEO?

Hi Bill,

Long time no see! I took an offline vacation for awhile to rebuild my house. I am now working on the inside of it while living some 40 miles from where it is. Now with the answer to your question to the best of my knowledge.

I believe Bidbay is a decent auction site. Unlike Gold's it is still around. I know for a fact that it has more traffic then Gold's ever did. I know for a fact that commercials are being run to promote the site. I know for a fact that the CEO has spent countless hours developing this site.

Sure it has problems but what site with any traffic don't? The future? Bidding will help that!

And of course this is JMHO. Good to see you my friend!

crychek,

I don't have a problem with folks being anon but I do have a problem with folks posting anon and that do nothing but attack otherfolks and sites! This said I'm not pointing a finger at you on your post. You can read above that I disagree with you that Bidbay hasn't surpassed Gold's. It has hands down. Don't get me wrong I loved Gold's auction. Lot of good people there and many of them have moved to Bidbay including myself!

Reason why the cheerleaders do not respond on this board? Undeserved suspensions to others. Frankly they get tired of fiction being posted concerning the Bidbay site.

Most of the fiction posted here about the Bidbay site comes from suspended members like allycat. This person has had as many as 20 ID's on the Bidbay site and they just keep suspending this person from the chat board because it is nothing but a troublemaker. AW has suspended this same person for the same thing. This person last count of AW ID's is 5. Wonder if it will ever catch the Bidbay ID's.

And for the record I'll invite anyone to check my feedback profile on Bidbay to confirm my sales on this site. Same user name. It was posted above that it was only $135.00? Dead wrong! Check the third comment from the top of profile and you will see my last auction sold of this site some 3 months ago was 105.00 for a Bidbay world shop. My sales on this site are well above $135.00 Again fiction was posted.

Good luck to you also!

Edited to add a word.

Sara,
How can vette say these things anyway? Does he have proof about different id's? Can he access AW information? I am concerned about the breech of privacy here, trolling is one thing but.....I have wondered previously, if people were able to access information here, I have even written Pat about it. Possibly hackers?
