My sister brought home an abandoned St. Bernard once when I was younger. We already had a dog, and my Mom didn't want to keep him. She promised me he wouldn't go to the Humane Society. When I came home from school one day, my Mom told me that they gave him to the police dept. and that he was going to help them out, and that they were very happy to get him. About four years later...I found out that she brought him to the Humane Society. I was very upset about that.
kazanne It is hard when we lose a pet. They become part of the family.

Yes, the day "Albert" died, I couldn't even go to work. I grieved for him for so long, it's been awhile now and I still get a tear in my eye if I think about him or look at all the photos.
When "Zula" dies, it's going to be very hard, had her for so many years - she's nearly as old as my kids.
If I feel that she is suffering though, I will have to be brave and have the vet put her down.
There will be no more dogs for me after that, I couldn't stand the heartache.
