Andrea Yates, the poor unfortunate victim of mental illness who against her will aborted her 5 kids, is being given yet another chance. She is pregnant.
Life is grand.

jlpiece - Did 'they' say how far along she is? This could have been what 'the last straw' was for her.
Has anyone read/heard why they have only charged her with two of the five children's deaths? I find that odd.

jlp - " who against her will aborted her 5 kids" ??????
I don't get the analogy. What do you think should be done with her? This is pretty sad.

Linda, I believe they do that because that way they can have another shot at prosecution in case the DA drops the ball or some wacked out technicality arises in the initial trial. They can avoid the double jeopardy problem that way.

Hi Kraft...
Yes, fairly busy. I spent quite some time listing auctions...then realized they were all going to end on the 4th of July. *sigh* Brilliant, huh?
I feel somewhat cranky... I should get off the board, it's just bookkeeping avoidance...lol.
BTW, from what I just read, they don't know for sure if she's pregnant or not. God, I hope it's NOT. Poor little babe.

I sincerely doubt that this child will ever be allowed in her care.
But what a burden to bear for this child as it grows up. Even though the burden is not of it's making, it will always be there

Hi Toke - Hope those auctions ending on the 4th do well for you. You never know, might be more people who have decided to spend the long weekend at home....shopping on ebay.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hmmm....the news report I just heard was that the jail she is in routinely runs pregancy test on female inmated.
However, they refused to 1) Say if Yates had taken a test, and 2) What the results were of any test that may or may not have been taken.

Does anyone know what the drugs she was taking may affect the unborn baby? I have more mixed emotions hearing she may be pregnant. Did she know before killing her other children? Was it her proverbial last straw? Is it a form of escape from her "concerned" and "loving" husband as well as for herself? (Just thinking out loud).
Edited to make more sense of my question.

Hepburn...
Doesn't matter much. If there is a baby (god forbid) and it achieves birth...it will become the responsibility of the loving husband of the (insane) murderess. If there is any mercy anywhere...I hope that babe finds some. I doubt such mercy exists...having been around awhile.

You might think about the content of a post, before you condemn it. Spaz is just doing a krs. Consider the worthiness of a cache of absolutely no merit. Don't be so easily decieved by sociopathic crap...

Toke, I shudder at the father having this child. So many people want children and cannot have them. I, too, hope there is mercy and this child goes to a loving family.

jlpiece,
Please post a link or cite a source for this information. I heard she might be tested, but that's all. I think if she was pregnant it would be all over the news, but I haven't seen much about it.
Should it turn out that she's pregnant, wouldn't that poke a hole in the "post partum depression" defense? Or would clever lawyers come up with a new psychosis, like "pre-partum depression" or "EPT depression syndrome?"

Her attorney's defense may be, because she is pregnant, (if that is indeed the case) her raging hormones caused this horrific event to occur. Some woman will tell you there are a whole range emotions they go through even before knowing they are pregnant. Looking back on it, once they find out, they can attribute it to the pregnancy.
Hormones can and do wreak havoc on some women. 5 children in 7 years could definitely put someone out of kilter.
I hope for everyone's sake, she is not pregnant.

Well, they say that imitation is the highest form of flattery but in this case the post by spazmodeus is hardly that. I do not have such a vile demeanor as is expressed in that post, so it's his and his alone.
I was, however awaiting any confirmation of this news so that I could begin to count the days before a suggestion is made that the pregnancy be aborted. Depending on the source of the suggestion I hoped to see a dilemma for right to lifers.
