After reading many messages in this thread, I am getting more worried about using PayPal. I am a buyer and seller myself, so I wonder what other services serve the same function as PayPal which allows users to restore credits for buying. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that YahooPayDirect does that. I'd research it further, though, before signing up & using it. I hear a lot of horror stories there too. I am signed up with it but haven't used it.
And, BTW, PayPal isn't all that bad. I have used them successfully for a year now for hundreds of transactions with no complaints from me or any of the buyers or sellers I have dealt with. WORD TO THE WISE: Do NOT accept a credit card transaction from someone that doesn't have a verified address!
Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
