I just expierienced my first bad eBay buyer. This individual had 2 ID's and was using his "good" one to up the bids on reserve price auctions until he found the reserve. Then he would use the other to out-bid himself and not reply to emails. I was forewarned of this person by a seller whom he burned last month - who was selling the EXACT same item as I was. Also, this lowlife person is on AOL, as am I, and as my auction was nearing the end last night, I put both of his screen names onto my buddy list and watched as he would sign on with one, stay a few minutes, sign off and then BOOM!. IMMEDIATELY the other was signed on! He claims now that his little game has been exposed, that I was trying to pawn off a fake item, which I can prove in genuine! What recourse other than to leave negative feedback and non-paying buyer status do I have? .

For what purpose did he do this? Why bid on an item, (and out-bid oneself), if he had no intention to buy it?

What he was doing was using his "good" ID with positive feedback, to bid on reserve price auctions in order to see what the reseve was. Then, if it was higher than he was willing to pay, he would just use the other ID to out-bid himself to save him from having to purchase the item. He would then not respond to sellers emails when he ended up as the winner with his alias. His "fake" ID has now been suspended from eBay, and since I threatened him with possible legal action and notified eBay, he has since recanted his false accusations and agreed to pony up the cash and pay for the item. But I still have him listed as an "unwanted bidder" on any future actions.

To all you sellers out there who are getting frustrated and abused by:
· Non-paying bidders
· paypal charge backs
· Bounced checks
· Fraud problems
· Negative feedback for no good reason (retaliation)
I found out the hard way that safe harbor and FBI don’t do a thing about it, and I signed up for a sitesentury.com, a security company that will do REAL investigations. Check out their site, I signed up for their service and I put their log on all my auctions and the bad guys will think twice before they mess with me!!!!!!! It is like having a security guard by my side protecting me!!! Which car do you thing the thieves like to break-in: one with alarm-on or one without??? That is what the log will do for you.
The investigator already got me some of the money I lost on bounced checks and the bank fee too!!!!!!
Do yourself a favor and check out sitesentry.com

how can you get a specific bidder ousted from bidding on your auction? If the deadbeat still has an active ID, they can bid, can't they? All I can find on EBay is an 'approved' list of buyers.

There is another scam related to this. The "good" address bids low and uses the "bad" address to reach the reserve and sometimes go over it and win the auction. Then the "bad" bidder does not pay and the "good" bidder contacts you to buy the item for his low bid. Many seller will then sell below the reserve to save the fees and bother of relisting. It's a nasty scam either way. Always be suspect if the back bidder contacts you immediately after the auction, or "remembers" the item a week or two later! I had a group of bidders suspended a few years ago for playing this game.

Hi Dave61
You are able to cancel the bid of anyyone you feel shouldnot be bidding on your auction. It is in the sellers tools on eBay. I have used it once or twice. It is difficult becasue you must wait 10 days to file a bidder alert and another 10 days to file for a refund. That means that a bad deadbeat can be bidding away on Ebay for two weeks or more befoer his habit catches up with him. I periodically chec the feedback rating of my high bidder on auctions over 50.00. I have also contacted sellers to find out if they have received payment for auctions ended within the lst two weeks if I have any suspicions.
