This is my experiences during the past two weeks with peoplepc and IBM. I ordered and received my NEW people pc 2 weeks ago. After set up, we discovered it did not work. We called in and went thru all the check points and then were told to open the tower, And stuff was not even connected inside!!! So we were told the part wa being ordered immediately and we would have it in 3-5 working days along with a technician to repair said gem of a computer. Incase you guys do not know, people pc comes with 3 years of free internet access and 24 hour tech support, including free repair/replacemnt. OR SO WE THOUGHT! Needless, to say, the piece of crap is still sitting here not working. I have sent countless emails, which have never been answered, called sometimes as often as 4 times a day, and everytime I get a different answer. Call IBM, call people pc, call... We have been told the part was ordered, is being ordered, is back ordered, we never received a complaint, has been shipped, technician on stand by, technician cancelled, that the 10 gig IBM net vista hard drive is a piece of crap- by them- so it will be rplaced with a 15 gig, then no you are not getting a 15 gig, and of course, we will call you back. Time estimates for the call backs range from one hour to 3-5 business days. I do not know what time zone they live in because I have yet to get a call back. 2 weeks of waiting, 2 weeks of calling, 2 weeks of writing emails, and still no response. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau and still have no response. If any one can advise me please email me. And please be careful who you do business with

What part is being ordered? Can you hook everything up yourself or know of someone who can. I would call peoplepc again and tell them you will cancel your account and dispute any charges on your credit card bill. I would also get teh name of every person you talk to for future reference. Threaten legal action also, that for some reason works wonders with some people.

Tantboy is right....threaten legal action and request the person full name and spelling that you are talking to. then tell them it is for "possible future civil litegation" next step is to send them a letter of your problems "return Receipt requested" and last but not least call your credit card company...99.9% will not allow the transaction to complete....and one last suggestion....use your search engines and dig around until you get info on the people pc's CEO and start firing emails to him directly.....GOOD LUCK

On March 7th i was about to give PeoplePC my order & then i saw your post. Just by chance i did some checking, & found some other people with complaints very similiar to yours, so i stopped dead in the tracks the thought of even uttering my Credit Card Number. Thanks for planting the seed for me to do some checking.

Has your problem been resolved yet? Or are you still waiting? I may or may not go ahead some day with my order.. Depending on how PeoplePC handles the complaints i'm keeping an eye on.

UPDATE- My computer is fixed, but I was not given the upgrade I was promised. The technician told us that our hard drive costs about $12.00, and IBM's tech told us a 10 gig is a piece of crap.
I did call the credit company, which is thru people pc somehow and they essentially said it was our problem to deal with them ourselves.
I did finally get a call this week from IBM, admitting they handled this poorly, but offering no compensation and denying any promise of an upgrade.
I got a call yesterday from people pc headquarters after over 4 weeks of trying to get anyone to call or write, and found out that they have only 5 people who work in the department that handles calls and emails, so the way my account was handled was standard. When I told the service rep that I had posted my experiences with people pc all over the net, he said, "Good for you", and he wasn't being sarcastic, he was sincere. In other words the people I have spoken to at IBM and people pc readily admit their product is garbage with no support.
I did ask for any receive 2 months credit on the account payments.
Now that the comp is up and running my connections have been good and comp runs fast.
I still would not recommend this company and I hope I can help someone else avoid what we have went thru with these incompetent companies.
