Has anyone ever used BidPay. I had a buyer ask me if I would accept this but I have never used it or know of anyone who has. Thanks

We have accepted BidPay payment for quite a few items. There is no risk for the seller as long as you pay attention to their instructions. Hold item until second confimation letter and be sure you and Bidpay have the same delivery address. Money order usually arrives in three to five days.

BIDPAY is very great and conveient for the seller. Once you get that second email, the money order is in the mail. It only takes a couple of hours to get that second email by the way.
They do have $5.00 charge that the buyer of the money order pays. But some buyers will prefer paying that to going out and buying a money order, then they still have to mail it. So for the conveience, it is worth it to them.
I don't think Bidpay knows how to spell "CHARGEBACK", and you do not have to give them your bank info. You do not even have to open an account with them. they will just send you the money order. Someone paid for it and it's your money. Sooo refreshing in the E-world.

I have also received several payments through Bidpay. I am not a member, but the money orders come through quickly and efficiently.

I am an international user of Bidpay. I have found the service to be quick and easy for myself and my buyers. It only takes 7 days for a money orders to reach Australia.

I have signed us, as a seller, for Bidpay, but I did notice that its fees include $5 plus a percentage of the cost of the item. Did I misread that? I, personally, wouldn't use it because of this, as a buyer; however, I did think it could be an option for those whose time is at a premium, as an online convenience. I noticed so many sellers do offer it.

For a Seller, Bidpay is great. There is no cost to the Seller and they get their Money Order rapidly along with two confirmation e-mails stating that the MO has been purchased and the date it was sent. Verify the information the Buyer filled in to make sure it is being sent to the correct address.

The Buyer pays $5.00 for the purchase of the Money Order and has options for method of delivery. There is no additional charge for standard, First Class Mail delivery of the MO. Of course, there is an extra fee for overnight delivery or Priorty Mail.

As a Buyer, I had a problem with Bidpay in that there is NO PROTECTION should the item not be sent and/or was inferior/defective when arrived. Case in point, i purchased a sports memorabilia for my son who is a collector. The item as described was supposedly in "Near mint" condition with some "minor creases". The photo had been cropped to not show the other defects, e.g., tears, rips, smashed 3 out of 4 corners, VERY FAR from "near mint condition, more like "poor condition" etc. I write to Seller and lodge my complaint. No response. No response to negative feedback. No response from Safe Harbour. No response back from Bidpay either after waiting 3 days. I am just out of luck!

As a Buyer i would be willing to pay their fee for the sake of convenience. However, to pay that high fee and then to have zero protection--forget it! I will not be using Bidpay again as a Buyer.

Up intill a few days ago I would say go for it to but I have just had to deal with their customer service on a minor point. Talk about none. They do reply with canned e-mails that do not answer the question or even relate to the topic.

I am removing them from my auctions just because if my buyers have a problem they need to be able to resolve it. I as a seller that have signed up and promote there service can not even get good customer service I doubt that they can either.

It was almost as bad as PayPals but not quite. Never thought I would say that.

As a buyer, I have tolerated the $5 fee for several purchases because they only accepted Bidpay and Paypal. It was convenient. I had one difficulty with a postal money order because they will not research whether a MO was cashed until 90 days after issue. I hope this would not be the case with Bidpay. I never researched it though.

I used BidPay as a buy recently and learned quickly that I will never use it again nor subject a buyer of mine to it!

It took them nearly 5 hours to give me a confirmation that they had received my information. After sending a confirmation that it had been approved I submitted a question asking why there had been a delay.
The reply to my question was to ask me to FAX a copy of my DRIVERS LICENSE and CREDIT CARD! So much for "secure" transactions eh? I tried to call and got nothing by a voice message that said "we do not take calls" - I sent another email and got a response that the Money Order had been sent. It was the most frustrating thing I've been through trying to pay!

I'll get my own money orders if I need one!

I find it a great service. For overseas bidders it's the best way to go. Never have to worry about chargebacks with them.

Most of the time I have the money order in my hands in about a week. Taking CC on line is allways a risk, but not with bidpay.

BIDPAY Customer Service is EVEN WORSE THAN PAYPAL.

Yes, unbelievable as it may sound there is a company out there with a worse attitude than paypal.

I paid for an auction using a BIDPAY money order over 3 months ago,,, the seller says he never got it but Bidpay say the MO was cashed.

Eventually, after many emails they agree to get a copy of the money order from the bank.

10 weeks later,, still no copy,,, I email them nearly every day for an update and they rarely reply.

REMEMBER, when you buy a Money Order from BIDPAY YOU HAVE NO INSURANCE WHATSOEVER if the MO goes astray.

I'm praying these guys go out of business soon.

how profitable is bidpay?
since most buyers do not use bidpay, how do they stay in business?or is it viable for them in the long term if there is not enough business in forseeable future?

As an international user of Bidpay I have only ever had excellent customer service and prompt payment. Even when Buyers got our address wrong, Bidpay corrected them.
Any small notice to customer service is handled quickly and efficiently and they have always solved my problem.
Much better than Paypal who decided to sit on all the monies from our side of the world while they changed the rules, kept the interest for themselves too. I love the way Paypal happily take a customers payment and then email me to tell me I have to join up to get my funds.
At least Bidpay take the payment and send it to the correct person, you don;t even have to sign up with them.
I have used them as a buyer and a seller and cannot recommend them highly enough

BEWARE OF BIDPAY:

I have been selling at eBay and Yahoo for over two years now and sometime ago I started using BidPay in addition to several other payment methods. I shipped as soon as I go the BidPay money order in hand (without waiting for the money order to clear in my bank account) because according to the Westen Union website (https://www6.westernunion.com/webmt/jump.asp?SRC=faq_mo.xsl#q8)"Stop payments can not be placed on money orders."

This should mean that whatever happens, should you get the money order from BidPay, you are guarantedd payment, right? WRONG.

A few days ago, I deposited a MO from Bidpay for an eBay transaction for $500 and as usual, sent the goods to the buyer, by courier, he received the goods, and even left positive feedback for me on eBay. A few days later, the bank returns the $500 Money Order from BidPay with a big red stamp saying "PAYMENT STOPPED".

I freaked out and wrote immediately to BidPay.

It has now been 4 days and I have been writing to every bidpay email address I know, as well as to their contact us page, and so far, they have not sent me a replacement MO. In fact, now they don't even reply to my emails. All they said (initially) was that they had stopped the original money order AT THE REQUEST OF THE BUYER. Imagine that, someone goes and buys a money order from Bidpay and you ship goods based on the fact at their website that says money orders cannot be stopped, this same buyer after receiving the goods, asks BidPay to stop the money order. What does the seller do?? The buyer obviously doesn't want to know because he's got the goods and as far as he's concerened, he's sent me the payment.

I am writing this so that people who use BidPay know that untill the money order clears into your bank account, you should not part with the the merchandise.

More than that, I would like to know what steps I can take to recover my $500; BidPay are not responding, and I would like to know if there is an association or authority that can step in at this point and help me. This looks like fraud to me, and I am thinking of writing to the FBI internet fraud division, and the USPS postal fraud division.

Thanks and best wishes
