I enjoyed your question in the round table forum but will no longer post there. I had the same questions in high school - my Dad (and now my brother) were/are Episcopal priests. My maiden name is Steinberg. My friends in high school were 60% Jewish - although most were liberal. How do you reconcile the old and new testaments? My Dad explained that the minutiae of Jewish law in the Old Testament was tribal law, meant for the benefit of Jewish tribes, and was not applied to Gentiles, even in Jesus' time. Although Jesus followed the law, he did so liberally, stating that doing good rated over following the letter of the law. He had no hesitation in healing the sick on the Sabbath. A scholarly but somewhat biased dissertation can be found here http://tinyurl.com/32v3w5 Most of the major tenants of the old testaments remain in tact in Christian theology. Hope this helps.

Dejapooh and Pixiamom - I enjoyed both of your posts.

A specific answer to the food question follows:

Mark 7:18-19 (American Standard Version)
American Standard Version (ASV)

18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever from without goeth into the man, it cannot defile him;

19 because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? This he said, making all meats clean.

I appreciate your post and will investigate it and ponder it... however... why did you have to post about me in Buyer Beware? o_0

Why did she? Probably because she has embarrassed herself....having TWICE come in to the RT to call other posters DRUNKEN.....

Then not being willing to talk out what got her so upset.

I answered you in the other thread, as I hadn't spotted this one yet. I think it's a decent answer, so take a look.

Your comment was very Christian. Thank you.

Dejapooh, I picked a seldom-used forum at random - did not mean to imply anything by Buyer Beware. I thought you posted an intelligent question that deserved thoughtful answers that were bound to be ridiculed by posters on the roundtable. I do not mind opposing views - get them all the time on the eBay board. Usually they are from thoughtful posters who offer more than cut and paste repetitive garbage - I can often learn something from them.

Since pixiamom didn't give ANYONE a chance to answer themselves....or to actually SEE how they respond in religious related topics.....she was ASSUMING how they'd act.

FWIW I have NEVER said anything negative about anyones religion.

But boy did pixamom come in throwing out insults to ME.

tsk tsk tsk
