I have been round and round with E-Bay on the subject of retaliatory feedback. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way and was so distraught that I hid my feedback. One E-Bayer wrote to me and suggested that both buyers and sellers would see the one negative for what it was...a crank. I exposed my feedback and have gotten e-mails from bidders who have been nailed by the same nasty seller. We started a network of e-mails and warned potential bidders of the seller's nasty business habits. Safe Harbour and others have been able to do nothing to stop her from selling high priced junk jewelry. The last I heard, one seller was approaching the problem from the "mail fraud" angle. I avoid dealing with her and since then I check FB religiously. I also choose to leave no feedback rather than negative. It's not worth the hassle. I will warn individuals privately rather than on a forum. I think it's an indicator if a person has a high rating with only a fraction of the buyers having left feedback.
