How sad that auctions.com has decided to shutdown. While it didn't have much in the way of community interaction, customer support always was quick to reply to any problems, and the ease at which to list auctions and offer "for sale" items was very nice. Post auction management from that site was really easy too. Truly a breath of fresh air in the huge auction venue.
I will miss you very much. My beanies and buddies are crying, wondering where we will find a new home in which to offer them up for adoption (ok ok, for sale). Barbie has already started surfing the classifieds for a new auction home.
Thanks auctions.com....the time was too short, but very enjoyable!

Thanks DogRed99:
One of the accomplishments of which we were proud was our early support for off-ebay community areas such as auctionwatch -- we were the first advertiser here, you know.
Again, thanks for the support.

Hi Neomax - it is always sad to see a site go down, especially one that has been around since almost the beginning of the OAI!
Can I encourage you to try to get your customers to list on VOTE (venues other than ebaY) sites in support of the Million Auction March? If you could send them a message to check out the MAM site for information and ideas for other sites to list on, it would be much appreciated. -Rosalinda

I too am disappointed by the decision to close Auctions.com. It was one of the few sites that offered an active listing for the specialtie items I sell. While I am only a hobby business and didn't sell in any sort of real volume, it was nice to have this site off eBay where my items could be sold consistently. This was a great site. Wish you could reconsider.

I cant believe it didnt close down long ago. How could it have ever been profitable? The site was poorly designed from the beginning and was a nightmare to navigate. All the advertising in the world could not have helped.
I agree it is sad to see a site go down, but how can anyone act surprised. They should have seen the no hope signs millions of dollars ago.

I may have an interesting idea, or fraction of one. Does anyone know how to reach someone at Auctions.com?

Mentecky:
I'm no longer involved with auctions.com but I do know a few of the folks.
The "[email protected]" email addresses also remain operable.

neomax - I run a small software company, www.websabre.com. I have some resources that may be able to help keep it working. I also can bend my software to bulk load just about anywhere in about a day. If you think a joint effort might interest them, feel free to pass on my email address, [email protected].
I've actually sold items on Auctions.com and would hate to see it go down without a fair fight.

Is the date of closing it down of August 31 definite?

That is what the sign says. I believe them.
Mentecky: Thanks for the offer but my understanding as an outsider is that the decision is strategic.

What a sad thing. I will really miss Auctions.com. Pat my friend, I know you did everything in your power to save it. What are your plans now. Will we be seeing you on another .com? I really appreciated all your help and understanding over the years and wish you success in your new ventures. I wish all of you at Auctions.com the best!!!

Hi Wes:
No condolences necessary. I'm sitting here looking at all the stuff I've accumulated and figure if I put it up on auction, I'll have my work cut out for me for at least a year
Its good to hear from you. In my mind you were one of the people who would look around and say, this is better, that is better ... etc., etc. and then work with it.
I really did appreciate your willingness to explore new things.
If more folks had been as smart as you, Wes we'd have done a lot better and there would have been a more competitive auction market to boot.
