Hi, there has been recent interest in forming an association for interested parties that are both buyers and sellers in online auction forums. Mark Dodd has been kind enough to create a sub-board for discussion regarding this, which can be accessed through this link.

We would love to have you all come over and comment. Thanks, C.

Thanks grannyfox:

I know everyone is watching, and where appropriate, posting on this subject.

As I've said elsewhere, what is going on is absolutely fascinating.

Personally, I've refrained from posting because, while I'm an auction user, I also work for AU.

My sole concern, and I've seen it addressed, is that there will be a place in this organization for entities such as AuctionWatch, Honesty.com, eBay, etc. if and when those organizations choose to be associated members.

As CCC noted in his posts regarding his experience with Hasbro and a users group, direct involvement is often looked upon with great suspicion. I do want to avoid that spectre!

I certainly would not discourage any individual from expressing themselves regarding this initiative on the part of auction users.

Hi Neomax, I have many concerns where this organization CAN go and am hoping that with input from a larger group we can avoid most of the pitfalls. I see this organization as a separate entity with it's own piece of the web, if we can make it fly at all.

Please mention your ideas and concerns, I'll link them into the O.A.U.A. And Thanks for refraining. It takes so little to confuse an issue right now. Ideas are fragile to begin with. (Can I link your visiov story over?)

Grannyfox:

If you're talking about the fairy tale story, it stands as a thread here.

I really must decline comment about the effort to create the "O.A.U.A." because my comments might be considered in some way official.

I do understand and that would pose a problem. C.

Greetings, any interested parties:
The online auction users association idea has progressed on the OAUA board.

Currently under discussion is the following plan:

A town hall meeting held 4/20/99 from 12:01AM-Midnight in a forum set up here on Auction Watch.

We are discussing/proposing ideas for threads and related issues this week, and making a final decision on the time and characteristics of the TH meeting on March 23.

We have also posted preliminary vision and mission statements for review/commentary both before and during the TH meeting.

Any one interested is welcome to give us your .02, whether you agree with what's being proposed for the TH meeting or would like to present alternatives.
