I checked on what was supposed to be AZ regional aucitons ... the prominent listing in one category (antique furniture) was a grossly overpriced bureau located in Niles MICHIGAN.

So I left. Unless I can search a region and find things IN THE REGION, why bother.

Abacaxi:

I can tell you're a bit mad and a whole lot confused

I think you just used the wrong tool but I understand.

First, you're confused about AZauctions.com. That is an affiliate site and it is a full-run auction listing service that includes all the listings as they appear on auctions.com.

Think of our affiliates as being sort of like the MSN or excite network, only they've been around a lot longer. This one is sponsored/owned by the Arizona Republic Newspaper.

Folks there want to sell their beanies and baseball cards nationwide just like everyone else.

To find the "local auctions" you should use our advanced search tool instead. An example is shown here.

With advanced search (power search on the AZ site) you can search, not just by title, but by any two or three or four search filters or criteria.

In the search I did, I selected just Antiques and Decorative items and just Arizona. Notice how they are selected (instead of all)

Indeed, you could select several states -- those items from Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada -- if you chose and ask just for listings in Automotive, if you were looking for an auto.

This is much different than the search tools on other sites -- in a sense much more powerful.

In other words, if you were interested in antique furniture in the Arizona area, you would type in "furniture" as your keyword, choose the category "antiques & decorative arts" and the state filter "Arizona" as in the graphic shown here.

The result would be "furniture" listed in Antiques and Decorative Arts in Arizona.

This is something you can't do on the other sites and most folks don't know you can do it on our site.

But you can

I suggest you get someone to write BETTER page copy ... because if you are confusing visitors it is bad for sales.

I agree. The text on search says you can combine search criteria but the "tips" area ignores totally the ability to perform geographic searches.

I'll be passing that suggestion along.
