GRRRRRR!

Pat, this is more of a question for you than anything. Feel free to pass me on to someone else if you need to.....

I just listed 20 items using the Manager. All had my nice (at least I think it is nice) HTML template that I created which I have had no problem with when posting normally. So after I upload, I go to look at one of the auctions and the only thing I could say was YUCK! It is very ugly.

For comparison sake, take a look at #'s 970295 & 917663. This first was listed using the Manager (please excuse the missing pic, I am uploading the batch tonight) the other was posted the normal way. What went wrong? I will leave that one alone for now so you can see it, the others I am going to edit and recopy my template into the listings.

Would appreciate any help that can be offered, and no hurry. For the price I paid I don't expect priority service.

Thanks!

Tanya

PS - Have some more questions related to this one but don't know if I should ask here.

Hi Tanya:

GRRR... lets' try and turn that into a "purrr"...

I've looked at the auctions you pointed out -- nice cards -- and saw what is causing the problem.

The problem is that somewhere in the process an extra set of "" quotation marks are being added to every "" quotation mark in your description.

Definitely time for debug man.

OK, I need to publicly humiliate myself and beg forgiveness of everyone involved here...........

I discovered what the real root of the mangled HTML was. It turns out after poking through some Access options and looking at the text file that I uploaded the first time, that it was Access that put those extra quotes in. Turns out there is an option to put double quotes " around all text fields which is what was happening. I was able to upload another file tonight without any characters added in and everything looks good.

So I apologize to Pat and all the nice programmers at Auctions.Com that he spoke with on my behalf. Next time I will look a little closer before I type.

Tanya

Tanya:

No apology needed. I'm just a little surprised we didn't come back to you with that as the possible solution.

It is sooo easy for an error like that to slip into a computer routine and unless you do a step-by-step, it is difficult to troubleshoot.

Thanks for the update though!
Pat
