Read this!! Winners post here TOO!

The is a preview of the first contest…. The goal is to be the first to bid on some specific auctions on auctions.com. There are actually four of them.

You will have to be registered as a member to win because the first bidder in each of these auctions wins the prize.

They begin right at noon Pacific (3 p.m Eastern). today. I'll not say when they are scheduled to end as that is irrelavent. I will end them with a winner or not right at 4 p.m. Pacific (7 p.m. Eastern) today.

The first bidder in each of these auctions will win $100. Second bidders ... the early bird gets the worm

These "auctions" are live on auctions.com and so there's a good chance the winner won't have come from here. Still, I'm asking the winner to play along and follow the suggestion that they come here and post. Since there are a ton more folks on auctions.com than there are here in the auctions.com forum on auctionwatch… hey, I can't make them to come.

Still, you folks will have an advantage.

I know the numbers of the auctions and some key information about them -- the key searchable text -- in these auctions.

I also want to have some winners here for this open house and so I'm apt to provide some hints here and there. It makes sense to consider what is being said is about all I can say.

Here's one hint straight out. Sometimes it pays to browse the odd or absurd auctions you find.

Of course you know that because we've all seen a lot of the discussions here on auctionwatch over auctions of livers to loons.

Enough said. I've actually said too much.

Pat

ONE RULE: ONLY ONE $100 PRIZE PER PERSON WILL BE AWARDED!

I suppose I should say that if the auction is open and you found it, what do you think you ought to do?

You're a winner for sure!

Tanya found the auction: http://www.auctions.com/au/item.asp?sv=&idx=0&itm=989234

That find should tell others about how they may just find the others!

YEEHAW!

Well I can't say that I ever watched the Beverly Hillbillies so I have no idea who Jethro Clampett is. I know the song though "This is the story of a man named Jed....yadda yadda" OK well I kind of know the song.....sorta.

Anyways the auction was number 989234. I just got lucky. I was kind of looking forward to playing "Who wants to be a Hundred-Dollionare" though...Oh well.......

Tanya:

If there's no one else around, I may cancel the "show" for lack of interest.

I thought for sure that the invitation in the auctionwatch.com newsletter would bring a few folks around.

I guess they'd rather comment on the musings of trolls than win $100. Makes me kind of wonder where their priorities are.

Bummer! This really sucks. I was looking forward to having some fun this afternoon. Although I have to admit that I don't recall getting that newsletter in my mailbox. Hmmm.

Radh was here. I saw her post on the get rich quick thread. Radh give a yell here!

Tanya:

I agree.

As I understand it, the newsletter is an opt-in thing that auctionwatch.com just started.

I think you have to "opt-in" to it when you register for their services. As I signed up here in August 1998, I don't think I've ever "opted-in" if you know what I mean.

I am beginning to wonder if anyone received it?

I've never received or heard about any such newsletter. I heard about your open house, here at this board.

I wonder if anyone has heard about the newsletter.

I was told that it would go to 60,000 registered users last Wednesday night/evening.

Should I post on the other forum whether anyone has received this newsletter?

I mean I wouldn't have even considered doing this without some advertising support for it!

But if the advertising never materialized or was never seen ... jeez I feel bad about ruining my holiday weekend!

Well, given that I wonder who the people were that supposedly got the newsletter. I would think that if anyone had gotten it they would have come over to win money.

BTW, I found another one of the snipe auctions. Radh, use the clues Pat gave and you can find it too!

neomax: How about you re-schedule it - as I really don't think anyone knows. I only saw stuff here at this board, not anywhere else -- NOwhere.

Don't wait for me to win, as I won't -- I came to watch. I am LOUSY, absolutely no good at games or riddles at all, NO kidding.

MMaybe to can have a pre-Millenium Bash here, and also do a mailing to auctions.coms mailing list. (?)

Radh:

For whatever reason this does look like a bust. Certainly I would have thought that if the email newsletter didn't go out that the folks at auctionwatch.com would have mentioned that it didn't.

Anyway, thanks for dropping in and have a wonderful time with what is left this weekend.

So much for the party. No crashers even. Guess I will have to console myself with a large glass of Coke and spend the rest of the day getting stuff listed. Bummer. I was really trying to avoid work.

Please do schedule another get together Pat. I have been enjoying myself. I prefer small intimate gatherings anyways.

Magik:

Thanks. This really could have been great fun and if

I think, though, considering all, I'll close the doors on the open house, cancell the ongoing supersnipe auctions (Congratulations on your win!...) and maybe explain a couple of the "hints" just for the fun of it.

Let me cancel the supersnipe auctions first

RADH:

I always wondered about that "silent majority" ... who they were, what they stood for, what they did???

Thanks for the tip
