Thinking about my favorite old TV show joke brings me to two of my favorite older comedies of the 60's -- Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies.
Heck, growing up in a little town in eastern Arkansas, those CBS hits were big. The only thing bigger was when the University of Arkansas Razorbacks played Texas on television. Going outside on those days and you'd swear you were in a ghost town.
It may seem a bit funny, but I was young and naieve enough to wonder why old Jethro Clampett ... 'cause he was so strong ... never played on a college football team. (If I recall right, I finally figured it out after one of the episodes where he did go to college and was let go because the character was too stupid.)
Still, the funniest single scene -- actually it was a recurring theme -- was when ZaZa Gabor would pour the syrupiest molasses-like coffee for Eddie Albert on Green Acres. I get a chuckle just thinking about it.
What are some of you fondest memories of television at this time?
Pat
