OK, so eBay called today, and wanted to remind me that by Mid-March, they are requiring a stated return policy and also our handling policy.
I know a couple of us have asked about this for a while now .....
What's Vendio's plan, and when?
The current return policy set-up on the listing page is NOT acceptable -- it only provides one check box, and that's "returns accepted".
For those of us in the vintage and collectibles business, this can NOT be the only option, and doesn't need to be. The other check box should be: "Returns only accepted in certain situations (see below)"
... and then we can explain ourselves in the message box.
I haven't seen anything about handling at all yet.
The last thing we want to do is to have to scramble at the last minute.
Any reason why we should have to?
Also, please confirm that you'll give us more than just "returns accepted" (in essence, deciding for us that we will accept returns in all circumstances, when that's not yours to decide).
If you're not changing that, then I have to change pretty much everything because I can't be stuck with that.
Thanks,
Kathy

Wow, I don't think I've ever posted up an question regarding upcoming eBay changes that has been so totally passed over by Vendio staff.

Hello Kathy,
I apologize that we missed this. As we let you know previously, we will be supporting the full options that eBay offers for return policy and handling time by the time they are required by eBay.
As eBay only supports either "Returns Accepted" or "Returns Not Accepted", it will be impossible for us to allow the option "Returns only accepted in certain situations (see below)". Although there is always the possibility that eBay will add this option (in which case we would likely add that option as well).
I do not have any specific eta or additional information available at this time.

.... but the current layout on Vendio doesn't have an "Returns not accepted" choice. It only has "returns accepted" as a check box.
Are you saying that if "returns accepted" is not checked, eBay will default to "returns not accepted"? That doesn't sound like eBay's style, but if that's the case, that would work for me.
And, if "returns not accepted" is either the default or is a check box you'll be adding, do we still get to use the explanation box to present our return policy?
I'm not trying to be difficult; I'm trying to understand how this is going to work so that I'm an expert at running my own business.
Do you have enough information about what eBay wants with this new policy to tell us what it will look like and where it will appear on an eBay auction page?

Hello Kathy,
Currently on eBay.com once you set up your return policy to say 'Returns Not Accepted' - the text box you get to use when you DO accept returns is unavailable.
There is one difference in how they are setup currently though to be aware of. When you indicate that 'Returns Not Accepted' at eBay, eBay shows in the return policy field the following:
"The seller will not accept returns for this item."
When doing the same from Vendio, where you have NOT checked the box to say you accept returns, eBay displays this as the following:
"Return policy not specified.
Read item description for any reference to return policy."
The only coming changes will be to list the items with no returns available as such, instead of eBay saying it isn't specified, (since eBay doesn't offer it we also wont be able to have text appear once set to say no returns accepted) and a field for handling time.
