I just had 9 items fail to launch with this error:
nternal Database Failure. The auction data could not be retrieved from the database for Vendio ID 01awch00000000002010909966XX.

01/19/2009 12:56:00 PM US-Pacific Time Zone

When I went to edit, the IS were wiped out and when I tried to launch without the IS, they went through.

No sorry - it was getting too late to list in for European audience (they were foreign postcards), so I went ahead and launched w/o the CIS. I'll let you know if it happens again tonight.

I just tried to launch another item and it was returned with this error:
The following message was returned from the scheduler while attempting to list your auction:

Internal Database Failure. The auction data could not be retrieved from the database for Vendio ID 01awch00000000002010933386XX.

01/19/2009 05:28:00 PM US-Pacific Time Zone

The auction could not be inserted/previewed due to an unanticipated processing error. Please try again later or contact Vendio to provide specific details regarding this error or to obtain assistance.

If this error message does not provide enough information regarding the source of the auction error, you may preview the auction insertion. Otherwise you may edit the auction information or attempt to schedule the auction again.

I will leave it in Pending. It is: LOVELY ANTIQUE GEL VALENTING POSTCARD LADY BIG HAT

I don't want to launch a bunch of items without CIS - hope this can be fixed before it's very late tonight!

So far, four out of four have errors and won't launch. I guess I will go do something else and hope you get this fixed ASAP.

Hello,

I see the item your referring to and it's error state. When editing the listing there are no item specifics. Can you give us a little insight on your process for creating this item?
Do you create it from scratch within Sales Manager or Pro, or do you use profiles or inventory, or click to relist an older item and edit as needed/etc?

Chris

I launched the others - when I went to edit the IS had disappeared. Since then I have been listing without IS.

I list from profiles using SM Merchandising "create listing" (I have at least one for each state and misc topics etc). I have saved basic IS with each type of listing and edit as I list individual items.

The profile I used for that listing is titled "VALENTINE POSTCARD REV 6/08 ITEM SPEC RETURN SHIPPING"

Hello,

I took a look at this profile, and it looks like eBay has recently updated the item specifics for the category you are using. (Product type of "VINTAGE POST CARD" has been changed to "VINTAGE POSTCARD" and theme of "HOLIDAY, VALENTINE'S DAY" has been removed leaving only "VALENTINE'S DAY".)

Please try editing the profile and reselect the item specifics information. (For the theme, simply select "VALENTINE'S DAY". For the product type, select "Postcard" and then the new option "VINTAGE POSTCARD" will be available to select.)

Please let us know whether or not this corrects the problem for your future listings that are using this profile.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan - The problem was with several items from several different profiles that one day. The next morning I was able to launch items with IS without problem.

Postcards do not have pre-set IS from EBay. All of them are Custom. Ebay gives us a choice sometimes, but we are able to put anything we like, as far as I know. If there has been a change in this, can you let me know?

Hello,

I apologize for the confusion. You are correct that you do not need to use the eBay predefined options. Should the problem reappear, please let us know.

Nathan

It appeared again - I have 31 (so far) errored out listings. Details of error:
The following message was returned from the scheduler while attempting to list your auction:

Internal Database Failure. The auction data could not be retrieved from the database for Vendio ID 01awch00000000002013589338XX.

I was moving these FP items ended November 9th (so they would be copies) to my eBay store.

I think this is the same old problem but I will keep them in error state until you can take a look at them. I suspect if I try to launch without CIS, the items would go.

I see that the CIS got wiped out at some point. I archived the originals but will restore them so you can take a look at them in postsale_>unsold. I see that the CIS are still present on the original listings.

Hello,

To confirm the process, you move to your unsold listings page, click to relist, then click to edit in order to change it from a FP item to a store listing and then schedule it for a later launch correct?

Are there any other details changed at that time, either with the CIS or prices/etc?

You can try a relaunch if your ready to submit them at this time, there shouldn't be anything that keeps them from being accepted (but as you mentioned it appears the CIS is gone from the items with the error message.)

Regards,
Chris

The process: I check off the group from the "unsold" part of "Post Sale" and indicate "relaunch". This pulls up a new screen with all of the items and edit link on the right column. I edit each one - I am changing format, price, tweaking other things that might not be up to date (return policy, payment type, shipping costs etc) and then saving the changes. When I finish making the changes, I schedule the launch with increments of about 2 mins between listings.

I have started launching the items one by one and have added back in the CIS and now they are launching! I don't understand what the problem was and why it seems to happen to just me and happens rather regularly but certainly not all the time. SIGH.

Thanks.
Mary Ann

I got tired of submitting them one by one so tried to launch in bulk (without CIS) and they errored out again.

I tried again and they errored out AGAIN!

Looks like they will go one by one though.

All of the ancient items (last closed in Feb and March 2008) I tried to move to FP errored again. I successfully launched them one by one from the error report in Pending Control Panel.

I then tried to do another bulk relist and edited out all of the CIS and this time they "took", but I lost all of my CIS information.

Finally I scheduled a group far out in the future and then went to Pending Control Panel and copied them. I archived the original items and cancelled and deleted the items that were scheduled to launch. I then edited and launched each copied item individually and this time the CIS stayed and the launch did not error. What a PAIN! I KNOW we used to launch copies of items that were past relist but this must have changed.

I just tried to change format and launch in bulk a group of "current" (within 90 days) items and it seems they are all erroring out too! We have a problem ...

Honestly, I am SO FRUSTRATED with your clunky archaic bulk relister anyway! How can you claim to be a full-service third party provider when your tools are clunkier to use than eBay's? Seriously, perhaps your Inventory Edition is state of the art but your Merchandising Edition is a horror show! I have wasted a whole morning trying to relist a few items as FP. Sure there are workarounds - but WHY should I have to work around anything? I should be able to toggle the format and all of the defaults I have selected (return policy, worldwide shipping, and payment types) should be changed automatically so I don't have to plod through each item one by one - and then to have them ERROR OUT! and require one by one handling AGAIN! ..vent almost over - but WHAT ABOUT HANDLING TIME??

Hello,

We have fowarded all of these details over to engineering to check into further for us, as there are no obvious causes for your items to fail like this.

If you happen to know any of the answers to these we may be able to help you/engineering better pinpoint a cause.

If you were to simply relist any of these items back the way they were the first time, would they retain their CIS without any issue?

When you are editing the items to change the format/etc, are you editing the CIS themselves?

One thing that might help to know is if removing and re-adding the CIS while your editing (during relist) - if these would then be retained and post without error.

Chris

I haven't tried to relist the way they were the first time because I am changing formats - either auction to FP or FP to Store. I will try launching some auction to auction and see what happens.

I usually don't change CIS when I edit. I did try removing the CIS and then readding - my original selections reappeared when I readded but I deleted those and put in something else - usually the drop down suggested selection. THose errored on launch. I am able to launch the CIS as originally selected when I launch a COPY.

I just tried to relist an auction item ended today. (eBay member emailed that he missed the end and wanted me to relist). It was already relisted once so did not qualify for RL credit.

I attempted to relist in usual way - adding a BIN. I did a "quick preview" thinking I would see ebay fees but this wasn't ebay preview so didn't see them. When I returned to the listing, the CIS were missing. I added them back in and tried to launch. Item errored out. I was able to add in CIS and launch from Pending Control Panel Errored Items.

Hello,

Our engineers have made some changes that will hopefully correct the problem for at least some users that are having this problem. Please let us know whether or not you are still having this problem, and also what type of character encoding you are using on the internet browser that has/had the problem. (Please note that if it is working on one browser, and not on another, then we would need the information for the browser where it is not working.)

In Firefox you may locate this under "Tools" --> "Content" --> "Fonts & Colors" --> "Advanced" --> then locate what is selected in the "Default Character Encoding" drop-down box. Also, is the box "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above" selected here?

In Internet Explorer, go to "Tools" --> "Internet Options" --> "General" --> "Fonts" --> what options are selected here? Also, from the "General" tab click "Accessibility" and you should see four boxes, with the first three beginning with the word "Ignore" --> are those first three boxes checked or not checked?

Regards,
Nathan
