Well now that eBay, in its powerhungry quest to control every aspect of sellers' businesses, offers automatic 5-star DSR for items listed with handling time of 1 day and status "shipped" entered within one day, are there plans to have that status uploaded to eBay when entered in Vendio?

Hello,
Yes. In fact it's something that we were doing, but it isn't working at this particular moment. If you update your shipping status and include a tracking number in Vendio - eBay will be notified and pick up the tracking number.
The issue were working on currently is that when you do not include a tracking number then eBay isn't getting the update - which we hope to have corrected soon.
