That is unusual. I haven't yet found a cause for it unfortunately. When roughly did this seem to start? Was it happening on items created anew after a certain point, or did it start showing up on listings that you had posted before without this error?
The HTML code in your item description looks pretty normal, and it seems to only happen in front of your 'click to enlarge' note. The question mark isn't in your code, but it is conforming to the font that your code is listing and does appear in the eBay item description field once the item is live.

Actually, it does it at the start of paragraphs, but not always the first one. A few times, I've seen it appear in a paragraph under a bullet point section instead, but never twice on one listing. It also doesn't always appear. It appears regardless of the font, or font size. It may have something to do with that "Black" template. Seems like it started in November or so. I was so busy that I hoped someone else would report it, because I didn't have time. Things have slowed down a little and I'm re-vamping a lot of stuff, so I decided to ask.
That is a good guess. The problem could be related to the template that you are using. Could you please try using a different template for one of the inventory items that had this problem, and let us know whether or not it gives you the same results? Right now the "Black" template that you are using is under the template category "Other". Please try using a different main template category (rather than "Other" ) and choose any other template. Please let us know the listing numbers for the two different listings, and let us know the results.
Regards,
Nathan

The ? inserted itself further down the page. But I did notice something.. that text, beginning with "On ebay" where the ? appeared before the text, in this instance I copied and pasted it before composing the other text, then wrote the other text that preceded it.
I relisted it here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1930s-Epiphone-Electar-Zephyr-Guitar-Amplifier-Lap-Steel-Amp-Deco-Fender-Speaker-/370576145397
The pictures were mixed up so I sorted those out, and went to the beginning of the text in Lister, hit the backspace (even though it was on the top line and appeared to be the start of the text box) and it listed without the ?
Thank you for the additional information. There are two things that I can think of that might be causing the problem:
1. It could be related to the browser that you are using when creating the descriptions (not when you launch the listings, but when you actually create the descriptions). Could you please try using Mozilla Firefox and see if it gives you the same problem when creating a new item with a completely new description?
2. I think this is more likely to be the cause. Sometimes if you copy and paste text from somewhere else, invalid characters like the ? can be transferred over when you paste. The invalid characters won't necessarily be visible in the description box. Note that if you are using a description from an item that you created previously, when creating a new item, then this could carry over the invalid characters. Try creating a completely new item, where you type in all of the text (rather than copy and paste it), and let us know if that makes a difference.
