Hi, I have been with auctionwatch for a while now as [email protected]. I have now bought a laptop so I can continue putting auctions on ebay while traveling. I'm having a bit of a problem with images. Your site says a 350K maximum size is allowed. As I'm new to using a computer a lot of the language is unfamiliar to me. I just tried uploading two images. One at 960x1280x24B the other at 1280x960x24B. One image was uploaded with no problem. The other was turned back saying it was to large. I look at those numbers and except for the inversion of the first two they look the same to me. How can I tell in the future what numbers to look for so I wont run into this oversize problem again. I will be known on the laptop as [email protected]. The webtv account will remail in place. Look forward to you advice. By the way I've never had a problem putting images on with the webtv no matter how large. Is it possible that sometimes simple is better? Thanks, Steve

Hi Cyberageart,

The numbers you have given us refer to the size of the image, not the size of the image file. Depending on the type of image the size of the file can vary greatly. Please check the file size of the image and make sure it meets the requirements for download.

Hi Brian, thanks for your quick response. But I have no idea where to find the image file size. I did not see that info on my screen. Please bear in mind that whereas on webtv I am very profficient - on a computer I'm a novice. So the more info you give me the easier it will be for me to use the laptop for auctions. Thanks, Steve

Hi cyberageart,

Locate the image on your computer and right-click with the cursor over the image file icon. The size of the image should be listed on the screen that will appear.

Ok Brian, got it, thank you. But 'm now a bit confused about the pictures themselves. One pic is of an item that fills a whole screen and is only 335kb the next item fills about 1/2 the screen and is 597kb. If you can, please tell me how I might know in advance when I am taking the pic if it is too large and if so why. thanks again, Steve

Hi Cyberageart,

Are both these images the same format? For example, are they both .jpg? I'm not sure exactly what makes up an image file. It may be that certain colors make the image file larger.

You may want to download an image editing utility that will allow you to resize the images. There are many downloads available for free at http://www.downloads.com . You can search "image editing" or something to that extent.
