I started relisting closed auctions this evening. After relisting a group, I went back to 'closed' to relaunch another group and noticed that those that were previously relaunched are still in 'closed'. They are in 'active' however, so they did launch. Normally, they reset their counter to '0', then eventually move up to 'active'. That counter at '0' tells me not to relaunch those as they are already relisted. I generally relaunch a group at a time so that they all don't start/end at the same moment. Selling similar items, this could cause me to double-list many items.
A glitch at the moment? I have no problem deleting the 'closed' auctions that are now in 'active', but just wanted to check to make sure that this won't effect my active ones.

thanks

Hi sfnyartist,

Are you positive that these were not copies instead of relists? Are there any more closed listings that you have relisted that we could check, or any closed auctions that you would like to relist that we could test?

No, none are copies- I never copy an active auction (I keep templates in my pending for this). I noticed another post on the same topic- I too have used AW for 1 1/2 years and have never had this happen- as even when I know an auction has been relisted multiple times. (actually, this problem did happen one other time about 8 months ago, then went away after a few days)

If you would like to relist a closed auction for me for a test, you could do item #1494299039 (1893 Solar Chart)...whenever you get to it tonight is fine as it is only one auction.

I'll check back.

BTW, a strange thing did happen to my pending auctions a few weeks ago. As I mentioned, I keep templates for auctions there (usually only one or two per specific item type). I logged in one day and many of those pending 'template' auctions had multiplied- up to 4-5 times each. Doesn't bother me, as I will use them up (I normally only 'copy' a pending template before I use it to create another same template so that I will always have one extra) ...but just wondering how they multiplied...I'm not selling rabbits!

I suppose if I would learn to use my inventory I wouldn't need to make templates, but it seems to work just fine this way.

Hi Sfnyartist,

Thank you for providing your example, we will investigate this for you.

Regarding the duplicates in pending, if you use your back button on your browser often when editing a listing (especially to get back to your Control panel) this can often create those duplicates. You can delete them as you wish.

Hi Sonja,

No, I don't use the back button when editing. (I just click on the template pending auction to open it up, then click on 'copy' from that page, then I add the necessary details to the template for that item and then it goes directly to schedule or launch- so there is no need to back arrow). I just logged on that day, scrolled down to pending and there they were- multiples of them!

But like I said, no big deal with them, as I will just use up the extras- just seemed weird! but I did start to wonder if what ever caused them to multiply, would ever cause a pending auction that was actually scheduled to multiply(?)

This quirk did happen a while back for a day or so, then just disappeared.

As far as closed auctions not leaving closed when relaunched- if you still want to go ahead and use the item# above as a test, go right ahead.

Hi sfnyartist,

Item #1494299039 has been relisted before which is why under the availability portion of the relist page you will see "copy" instead of "relist". This auction will not be removed from the closed section if you relaunch it.

Brian, I have relisted items from closed auctions over & over many times (3Xs, 4Xs, etc) and they have ALWAYS left closed. On my ebay invoice they show as 'new' vs 'relist' as yes, they have been listed before at least twice. But that should have no bearing on the fact that they need to move (FROM my closed TO my active). Technically, (and logically) they literally need to move from closed to active as that is what they are.

Even my husband (who has also been using AW for 1 1/2 years) relisted items earlier tonight. Then, he went back after dinner to relist more...he started checking off the closed auctions that he wanted to relist and then pondered out loud that he thought he had relisted them earlier in the evening. (near disaster). I forgot to tell him about this...so I know I am not imagining this- he even noticed it. And there are other people posting here about the same thing. There really is something wrong.

just an update...

proving the fact that closed auctions (no matter how many times they have been relisted) will move from closed to active when relisted.>> I relaunched 3 closed auctions this afternoon and they first reset their hit counts to '0', then, momentarily, moved out of closed and into active. So, whatever was the glitch the last couple of days, it has been fixed.

Oh, and these auctions have been relisted before, so the theory about a 'copy' not leaving closed doesn't fit. As stated before, after 1 1/2 years, I have never had to delete an auction from closed after relisting it- it always moves on its own- and I do many relists of relists!
