I've been a pretty obnoxious voice in this forum for this past year, requesting enhancements, offering suggestions, and trying to help other AWers with the site, so I figured a "year end" summary was in order.
I'm really curious to know what it is you - AW - learned from yesterday's FLD experience?
Clearly you EXPECTED an onslaught of listings, but the ACTUAL volume overwhelmed your servers for several hours.
So:
- What can YOU do to prevent this from happening next time?
o Do you need to rent additional servers twice a year?
o Do you need additional staff for the week leading up to and including FLD?
o Do you put a limit on the number of listings an individual can launch?
- Could you give some consideration about what can WE do to assist with that?
o I know you asked us to post our listings earlier - but we all have our "favorite" end-times. The graphs from your system launch logs should be able to tell you that.
o Do we simply not use AW to launch of FLD in favor of Mister Lister or another service?
Thanks for the consideration...
Note to everyone who did not get their listings launched: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not come here to gripe! I really do want to know what can be done - and the moderator is going to probably lock this if it turns into a "#*!@ and moan" thread.

well, a forward thinking company would have some answewrs in here, I personally would do my part to help out if I knew what was expected of me.
I always do little things through the year in preparation for FLD, so come on AW, let's think solutions, instead of trying to put a little band aid on the damage and hoping it goes away by next FLD.
