For all of my auctions, in the "Payment Methods" I specify two things:
1. Money Order/Cashier's Check
2. See Item Description for payment methods
It seems that none of my listings on eBay display the second statement.
I went to revise a listing, and it shows up as a valid checked item, and even re-displays on the validation screen. It just doesn't show up in the listing itself.
Could you please contact someone in eBay's Tech Support group to have them take a look?
I can't - for the life of me - find a screen or e-mail ID on their site with which to report this.
Do you have the 'other' option checked when you submit it from our form? On our side, checking the 'other' box is what tells eBay to indicate 'see item description' box.
Or have you been, and suddenly checking 'other' does not make it say that on eBay now?
We would like to run a test for you on this, if this is the case.
If you are sure this is on eBay's end, and even seeing it checked in their form is not sending it to the listing itself : [email protected] or [email protected] is the addresses you can notify them of the error at.

Uh, no. I just looked at my settings. I don't have "other" checked. I thought there used to be a check-box for "see item description".
But I started to send eBay an e-mail and went to get a number. Sure enough, now that the auction's be revised, the statement shows up.
Now I'm REALLY confused! Could you please have someone in engineering check the format of the API and see if there's a field for this?
Thanks!

I checked back through September (all of the available auctions) and it seems that the line "See item descriptions..." never appeared in all of those listings.
Anything that I revised manually ended up having it.
Christopher - could you please clarify why eBay has one field for "See item descriptions..." and one field for "Other" while AW only has "Other" ?
Thanks!
I can't possibly believe that this may have cost me sales during the past three months. That would be more than I could take (in terms of idiocy, if you know what I mean).
What you mention is correct, we do not have a 'see item description' box on the eBay form. Checking the box labeled 'other' triggers eBay to show the 'see item description' box on their end.
When you edit an auction at eBay, they do automatically check this field for you so after any change is made it shows up. You can uncheck it if you wanted to, but most do not notice this change they make during an edit and allow this to be added when it was not there before.

I just updated my Global Profile to include the "Others" field for Payment options. I was VERY glad that I was not prompted to fill in the blank associated with the field.
Let's hope this works for the auctions I plan to launch this weekend.
Christopher - can you make sure this is correctly/properly explained somewhere in the online help?

I just had to edit a WBN for a winner who sent me an e-mail.
I've just seen the consequences of filling out the "other" field.
In the WBN is a radio button for "other" --with no text next to it.
Now, I'm sure that if someone was going to use Paypal, they would select that. Or, if they were going to use a money order, they would select that. But I know that someone is going to select "other" and within a week, I'm going to get a "neg" for no reason.
Christopher, I'm not asking for "why" - just "how come?" Because this seems weird...

Hi Kahml,
Editing Global Preferences and checking "other" without entering eny text in the associated field, indeed leads to a WBN with a checkbox, and no text (but the word "oter" does not appear!).
The solution would be:
- include in every description the payment methods accepted;
- edit Global Preferences page and uncheck the "Insert list of payment types accepted in auction listing";
- in the same page check Other as accepted payment method, and fill in the text area someting like "see item description for accepted payment methods".

Marius, uh, I don't think so...
Go take a look at Item # 1056050006. Either preview the WBN or edit it. There is a radio button that is followed by the word "Other". It appears to the winner and to me.
This whole thread started when I found out that my eBay listings don't have the canned phrase under payment:
Payment: Money Order/Cashiers Checks. [bold] See item description for payment methods accepted[/bold]
This is something that eBay puts up as part of their format. It would only show up if I revised the listing.
Christopher explained (earlier in this post) that the AW "other" field serves as a flag to activate this option.
Let's go over your suggestions...
<<- include in every description the payment methods accepted; >>
I already do that.
<<- edit Global Preferences page and uncheck the "Insert list of payment types accepted in auction listing"; >>
That's has always been my setting.
<<- in the same page check Other as accepted payment method, and fill in the text area someting like "see item description for accepted payment methods". >>
Now what good does that phrase do when it appears in the WBN as the last option in the available payments section???
My descriptions already include all of my payment methods - but someone would have to scroll down to the end of the description to see it. If the phrase doesn't show up in the [bold]summary[/bold] someone may not know to look.
Now, I've just discovered the (unintended?) consequence of using this field.
I'm really not in the mood to go and revise every single listing after it's launched just to get the phrase to work (so please don't suggest that).
Using one field to do two [italic]different[/italic] things dosn't seem to be working as you had planned.

Hi Kahm,
You were INDEED right with the subject of the thread "AW need help with eBay Tech Support". I have done a lot of tests and I came to the following conclusion: AW sends the "See Item Description for payment methods", and this request is ignored by eBay. For any of your items which does not have the above text in the short description, click on ReviseItem link. You will notice that "See Item Description for payment" is checked, and all you have to do is click on "Continue >" in order to have it displayed on the listing.
I am very sorry cos I did not understand your point from the begining. We will surely escalate your problem to eBay. Thank you again for signaling this.
Please notice the section name: shipping options. "See item description" in this case instructs the user to consult item description for shipping terms.

Hi I am back again.
<< For anyone else who's inclined to response, please read the whole post>>
Marius, your last statement is correct. The "See item description" applies only to the Shipping Options.
There is still no field for the Payment Options.
If I check "Others" in my profile (and there is no description that I can give), I have to remember to remove that option in EVERY SINGLE WBN that I send out.
That is patently absurd!
It's been almost two months since I reported this. Can't someone figure out how to fix this correctly?
