I would like to send out a year-end e-mail to customers in various categories.

Somehow, I've messed up creating these lists, and even after printing out the "How to Use" pages, I'm even more confused.

Questions:

1. If I have an e-mail address (name) in a particular folder, how do I delete that item?

I've got incorrect items in several folders.

2. When I pull up the auction list to import customers, why are items with no bids displayed?

These can't be imported - in fact, I think they generate error messages.

Can a filter mechanism be built?

3. If I've imported an auction/customer, how do I prevent it from being displayed when I pull up the auction list to import customers?

I know it's late - and I do have more than 600 auctions for the year, but this is something I would like to get a better handle on.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Larry

Hi kahml,

To answer your questions in order:

1. To delete (or move) a contact, simply click the checkbox to the right of the contact and use the drop down menu under the action panel to select an action and/or folder.

As for questions 2 & 3 - it sounds like there may be a technical issue on our end that is causing the behavior you are describing. I'll have to look into it and possibly escalate it to engineering if I determine there is a bug. If not, I'll let you know.

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Oh, so THAT's how you manipulate these little buggers!

Just so intuitive - NOT. And no mention of this "feature" in the How to Use page...

But thanks, because that means that I have a frantic three hours of work ahead of me.

I >do< appreciate all of the help you've offered during the past year.

While we are at it, could you please add the following requests for engineering:

1. Ability to sort list by all fields

2. Ability to easily eliminate duplicate e-mails IDs

Thanks!

New silly questions regarding the Auction Import Log

1. Several imported auctions have a status of "failed," but the Failure Reason column has no information in it.

2. Several imported auctions have a status of "running" but I don't see anything going on....

Also, there is no way to access the log without actually going through the import function. Why is that?

Finally, I'm trying to go back to the beginning of the year to get information and it seems that there is a "cutoff point" somewhere.

Could you please let me know how far back the data is available.

Thanks!

Hi Kahml,

Try importing your customers again and if you get 'failed' with no reason as to why, let me know so we can investigate this further.

You can access the log in full by clicking the View Log button, and the 'click here' link on that page.

OK, here's what I did:

I went to CM and clicked Import.

I went to page 11 (auctions 501-550) and selected all of the auctions that had winners - about 3 dozen.

I had them imported to my Unfiled folder and clicked GO.

They are all currently running - and I suspect they will all fail without any reason. They did...

Now's a really good time to take a look.

Thanks!

Hi Kahml,

It looks like they failed because they are old auctions and the information is no longer available on eBay. We will continue to look into this further.

Why, if all of the information is readily available - I mean you display it right on the screen - would you have to send a request to eBay to get information?

I hope the engineers can explain it because that really doesn't make any sense...

Hi -- Customer Management is a promotional option that must be set in preferences, or as you list your auction. If the preference is not set, the email address will not be automatically pulled into CRM (which is separate from Post-Sale Management.) If you forget to set this preference, you can use the import tool - this will only work, however, if the information is still available on eBay. There is no way to pull email addresses out of Post-Sale into CRM at the moment.

I hope this helps!

Helps? No, not really.

Could you [italic]please[/italic] have someone update the Help window associated with this "promotional option" to include this information?

I've gone through the whole AW site now and pages upon pages of message threads to try to figure out how to handle year-end processing.

Here's what I've come up with:

-- If I didn't start to track customer e-mail IDs at the very beginning of the year, I'm SOL if I want to notify everyone now. At best, I can get maybe the past 100 days worth.

-- There is [bold]no[/bold] capability for obtaining sales data to report on gross profit/loss unless I copy and paste every one of my Closed pages into Excel and turn off all of the hyperlinks. I'm still waiting to see what kind of reports are in SMBE - but even that seems to require "day one" processing.

-- Following the eBay Checkout debacle, the PSM process is being ignored by 80% of my winners, which forces me to do most things manually.

So after almost a year, all you can really do for me is host images and launch auctions.

I really had some hope that this venue would work out. My plans were to increase my auctions in 2002 to get rid of the bulk of my comic book collection.

Unfortunately, I think it is seriously time to move on...
