AuctionWatch is planning to perform system maintenance on Friday morning, Feb 8, starting at 00:00:01 PST. AuctionWatch hosted images will be offline for 6 to 8 hours, although all other listing information will still be displayed. Auction launching, post sale services, and AuctionWatch Stores will be offline for 8-12 hours. Any winning bidder notification scheduled for delivery during this period will be delivered when services are restored. Auctions scheduled for launch during this period will not be automatically rescheduled, although you may change the launch time in advance of the maintenance period.

During the maintenance window, AuctionWatch will be bringing a new co-location facility on-line. We apologize if the maintenance causes you any inconvenience. Helping you to manage your on-line sales is very important to us and we are continually striving to provide a more valuable service.

Thank you for your support,

The AuctionWatch Team

Thank you for the one week lead time for this announcement.

I believe I speak for a lot of users when I say, "I hope your contingency plans are really rock-solid for this one."

You don't need the outbursts of outrage from another sustained outage.

(Wow, I actually managed to do that...)

You know, when I originally posted my comments, I figured no one would listen.

You took more than twice your estimated down-time!

You've seriously, adversely affected a lot of business - in ways that some of us sellers will never know, or be able to recoup.

It really is disgraceful.

Dear kahml,

We understand your frustration. We ran into some unforseen problems during our maintenance, which resulted in a lengthier outage than originally planned. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused you and anyone else.

Regards,

Dian

No, AuctionWatch... you did not cause us an "inconvenience," you cost us money!

I, for one, want you to credit everyone who had auctions running today a listing fee credit. I also want you not assess ANY final value fees for auctions that were running today, regardless of when they go off.

That is the LEAST you can do.

Gee, Diana, I know you've helped me out in the past, but please convey this to your management.

I've been working with computers and systems for almost 15 years now; this is stuff I do know.

The reality is, [i]"unforseeen problems"[/] merely indicates a lack of adequate preparation and an inability to bypass the problem - in other words: no contingency planning.

You're going to a new site with some other something - fine. Someone figured out it's 48 steps to get there. There should be one or more "what if's" factored into every single one of those steps. Anyone who tries to shortcut the process gets hurt.

I'm disgusted by today's outage - because you can't even call it maintenance. And I still have 45 auctions to get ready to launch over Saturday and Sunday.

I know the 9 that are out there closing tonight aren't going to generate even the revenue to cover their launch...

Hello all,

We apologize for going over schedule on the maintenance window, however, this was a large-scale project and although there were contingency plans in place, we ran into some unexpected problems (kahml, being in the computer industry you should know that no matter how well-planned a project is, there is always the potential for something to go wrong!)

We do feel that the new data center will offer long-term benefits to our customers, and we would like to thank you for your patience and support.

Regards,

Diana

As Paying Customers for a service, the least AuctionWatch can do for their customers and for the public the customers generate, is to extend the listing day by one free day for the outrages outage of almost 24 hours, when it was listed as possibly 8 hours. Do not bite the hand that is feeding you-It will bite you back! Take care of the PEOPLE!!
Kind Regards,
Robert Russell

About 8 of my auctions all closed during the picture down time and I did not get the announcement before I launched because I scheduled my launch time I really believe that even though the unexpected problems were not your fault, we the sellers deserve atleast one free listing day even just having the photos free when be a polite and curtious thing to do.

as i have stated before, if you get ANY type of refund from AW, let us all know. do yourselves a favor, and get out when your contract is up, or before if you were smart enough not to get into a year long contract.
