A customer has informed me that the checkout form won't accept APO addresses, and never has. Is this correct?
I've always felt the buyer's address section was way over-engineered as I tried to make foreign addresses fit. If it won't accept APO addresses, that cuts out military and diplomatic buyers overseas, of which we have a few.
It is becoming apparent that many of the new features are over-engineered, when in fact all we asked for was simple enhancements that gave us flexibility and options. Instead we get these rigid systems that offer no leeway.
Why can't the address section just let the person enter their address? Most people know their address and what they have to enter, but if the form doesn't allow them to enter information -- like a three-line address -- it does us and them absolutely no good. I'd rather have to fix a buyer's entry mistake than get another email that says "Your stupid checkout doesn't work." I'm not sure you folks realize that when your system doesn't work for our buyer, we're the ones that look bad in their eyes.
Enhancements need to employ the KISS principle. Just because engineers can do fancy things with javascript doesn't mean they should.
Engineering is aware of this issue and working on possible resolutions to address it. We do hope to have this issue corrected as soon as possible, although I cannot give an exact ETA at this time.
