How about it?
It would be good customer service on your part. Soothe the disgruntled, of whom I am one. As we cannot add to auctions ending within 12 hours, I was unable to put the pics up elsewhere.
You have the right to an informed opinion

I also had a couple auctions end during the outage but I doubt much can or will be done to compensate. I believe the lack of pictures on my 2 auctions probably cost me about $40.00 in lost bids.
It would too much to ask for AW to reimburse each customer on all auctions ending during the outage but possible some free listings could be offered?

Hi there,
We are planning to offer some sort of compensation to users affected by this outage. I have no detail on this yet, but will post more info as soon as I can.
Thanks,
Diana

Maybe pay me $500 as I lost that much tonight on 90 auctions that ended because of your 12 hour outage. The system was better when it was free

I hope you offer some kind of compensation to everyone! I list my auctions every Thursday and my customers expect that. They know to look every Thursday for my new items. I am getting tons of emails from customers wondering where my auctions are. Now I have to wait until Saturday and just run 5 day auctions.

If you don't charge me any fees or anything for the next 6 months I might break even with what I lost yesterday not having any pictures. How about that?

Hey everybody.....AW just has agreed to refund us a whole quarter for every auction that closed during the outage. What a deal!

The auctions that ended after 7pm on the day of the AW outage were not apparently affected by the outage. AW only feels like the items that ended prior to 7pm need reimbersement of a $0.25. The items after 7pm must not have been affected by the outage??? AW this is not rocket-scientist work. My auctions that ended from 8-9pm were impacted by the day's outage. Thank you for such a generous return for the day's outage.

I agree with shadowwand. I was checking my auction all day from the list with the thumbnails and everything looked fine EXCEPT I wasn't getting any bids. Then I got this email and found out why:
"Hello,
I found this auction this morning at 11 AM Mountain Time Zone. AuctionWatch had messages of apology where the pictures should have been. It is now 5:15 PM and I am leaving work for the eday. The auction ends in two hours and the pictures are still not functioning. I won't bid without seeing the pictures. You are getting screwed by AuctionWatch. You might want to pull this auction and re-list it so people can see the item and bid on it."
--------------------
So I lost this guy's bid but the item sold to the bidder who had bid the first day. I could have lost anywhere from $1.50 to $50.00-how knows. And it ended one hour after the return of the photo so AW isn't even going to give me a quarter for it??? Not fair!!!!
I also stopped 3 auctions (and cancelled the bids) on items that had already sold to the tune of $120.00 because they should have much higher. I felt these 3 would have ended at $200.00 to $350.00 under normal conditions. I think I did this five minutes before the photos came back but how was I to know-AW wasn't letting anyone know what was going on?? Now I have 3 pissed off customers and one auction had a reserve which will cost me $1.00 plus the higher listing fees- a lost of between $121.00 and $400.00 (that I am sure of) - and AW is going to refund me 75 CENTS FOR THESE THREE AUCTION ONLY? I think AW should make that a quarter an auction for every listing ending that night. I had about 50 auctions so that would only be about $12.50. I'd even take it in installments!! No were close to what I lost.
I SAY IF YOU CAN"T DO BETTER THAN THAT - JUST KEEP IT!!!!! AW MUST NEED IT MORE THAN WE DO!!!

I don't care about compensation -- a quarter one way or the other isn't going to make or break me -- but as others are pointing out, I wish AuctionWatch would get the message and aknowledge that not just those with auctions ending were hurt by the outage.
In my case, I listed a lot of auctions Wednesday evening and, as we sellers know, you get most of your bids in the first 24 hours (when the item shows up in "new" and the last 24 hours (when the item shows up in "ending" , so I lost most of that first 24 hour period.
I'm not going to #*!@ and moan about the lost time, though. I realize that technology is imperfect and there are going to be outages -- most of the time I'm surprised any of works at all. It's one of the costs of doing e-business.
But AuctionWatch and the others that set up sites for this kind of e-business need to recognize that there are a lot of people out here trying to make a living and stay afloat, so when lengthy outages like this occur, it's a little more than an inconvenience, and it affects a lot more than just those auctions that end during the outage.
More than a quarter, I think most people want 1) to be kept fully and intelligently informed while the outage is in progress, and 2) to see that the people on the other end really understand and aknowledge what such an outage means to the customers -- all the customers. That will go a whole lot further than that two-bits.
Addition: Those smiley faces are supposed to be close parentheses marks. Have no idea where they came from, but they're kind of neat in there, so I'll leave 'em.
