I've been "inactive" on AW and ebay since late April, and just now saw that my 150 closed auctions are now only 10 closed auctions.
I saw a topic about how "delete" has been replaced by "archive", but HOW DO I RETRIEVE ARCHIVED AUCTIONS BACK INTO MY CLOSED AUCTIONS FILE???
I use descriptions of clothing designers from closed auctions (cut-and-paste) to create new descriptions. Over two years, I'd carefully kept one copy of each designer in the closed auctions file, so I could always find a designer that I'd previously tried to auction. THAT CAREFUL GROUP OF CLOSED AUCTIONS IS NOW ARCHIVED!
When I went to "Archive" to retrieve everything from 01-01-2000 to 03-11-2002, it looked like it was going to download to my C drive. I DON'T want that. I want my archived closed auctions from those above dates put BACK into my closed auctions file.
POSTSCRIPT: Even though I've been inactive on ebay since late April, I HAVE retrieved and read all emails, and NO EMAIL EVER came through saying "WARNING: YOUR CLOSED AUCTIONS WILL BE ARCHIVED UNLESS YOU TAKE SOME ACTION!"

Hi Kathleenrock,
In order to view your archived listings, you will need to export them into an Excel spreadsheet. To do this, go to your Sales Manager page and click the "Archive" link in the lefthand navigation bar under Display Options. Specify your date range, type, and format, then click the "Export" button. This will create a spreadsheet for you with all data arranged in titled columns.
If the auctions you want to import back in are still in existance on eBay, then you can take the item number from the appropriate column in your downloaded archive and import the auction back to your account via the track auction feature. We encourage you to save the auctions you want to save descriptions for in your inventory.

THIS DOESN'T HELP ME!!!
I checked what kind of "format" will be downloaded, and the DESCRIPTION is omitted. It is the VERBAGE in the description, not the statistics, that I need.
HOW COULD YOU DELETE DESCRIPTIONS WITHOUT SENDING EMAIL NOTIFICATION?????
Please tell me how to retrieve these archived DESCRIPTIONS back into my Closed Auctions folder.
Since these auctions (as stated in my opening message) are from Jan. 1, 2000, to Mar. 11, 2002, I CAN'T import anything from ebay.
YOU HAVE RUINED MY HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF GATHERING CLOTHING DESIGNER BIOGRAPHIES AND CAREFULLY KEEPING ONE COPY PER DESIGNER! I had about 120 different couture designers in my closed file.
Please respond with how to get those DESCRIPTIONS back.

Hi Kathleenrock,
I have just found out that we will be releasing a data recovery feature whithin the next couple weeks that will allow you to recover the descriptions and such from those listings. The release of this new feature will solve the problem that you are having right now. I recommend however that you start saving your auctions in your inventory so that you always have a copy of your description in your account.
1. How SOON will the data recovery feature be available - and do you need anyone to BETA TEST it?????? NOW????
2. I never used inventory because I couldn't figure out how it worked. I think I got stumped when I tried to inventory an auction and got a prompt asking what "category" I wanted it in. I truly only want one example per clothing designer, but that could be up to 200 designers eventually. Could you give me step-by-step on:
a. how I would inventory an auction by designer? (I just scanned my titles in the closed section before, since the designer name was always in the title)
b. how I would RETRIEVE that inventoried auction by designer and just grab (copy-and-paste) the biography description part into a new auction?
... putting away the valium for now ...

Hi Kathleenrock,
It should be released within the next couple weeks -- I'm not sure when.
In inventory, you have the option to create folders. You could create a folder for each designer. When you create your auctions, check off the option to save the item in your inventory. When you go to your inventory, you can then move it into the folder for the designer it falls under. When you want to list an auction and you know that the description exists in one of your inventory items, you would just go to your inventory to the appropriate designer folder, click on the title of the item, and then copy everything in the item description box and paste it in the body of your new auction. After you play around with it a bit, you will probably find this much easier than going to each and every item in closed since you can create folders in inventory.
If you need any additional help with this please let me know.
