I guess this is my question day.
I'm trying to update some information and want all to run smooth.
With the mailstep and paypal information - can they use the paypal link from WBN without filling out the WBN? If so will their address post to the WBN?
I now tell the winners if they want to use paypal the best way is to go to the instant paypal link on the auction. If they do that, will the post sale information still post if they don't fill out the WBN?
I guess the whole thing is a bit confusing to me - so are my customers going to get it??
Thanks

Hi Ladyjewels2000,

You can't get to the PayPal link without filling the WBN, so they would have to enter something in the address field.

If you set yourself up with mailstep, and your winners go directly to PayPal and pay for the auction there, when the notification is sent to your mailstep ID it will populate the WBN for that item. If you are interested in this please visit the following URL on the PayPal Mailstep feature:

http://wsacp.auctionwatch.com/promo/mailstep/paypal.html

Let us know if you have any other questions.

By populate - you mean the post sale box for payment will be checked off?
Will I still be able to give there address by way of paypal email as they will not have filled out the WBN?
I don't want to lose this information as some times it is the only place to get the address.
Thanks

Hi Ladyjewels2000,

Basically this is how it works if you are setup with Mailstep and your winner bypasses the WBN in favor of paying directly at PayPal:

Paypal sends a payment confirmation for a particular auction to your AuctionWatch Mailstep email account. AuctionWatch recognizes the key information from that email (Auction ID, payment amount, buyer email address), and instantly forwards the notification to the email you have on file with AuctionWatch. AuctionWatch uses the information from the email to update your Post Sale Management information. The update will include adding a credit to the auction for the amount received, and if that amount exceeds the amount owed, the PSM system will automatically mark the item as paid. AuctionWatch will also fill in the buyer's address, based on the shipping information entered by the buyer at Paypal.

What happens to all this when there is an auction that is outside of auction watch?

Like, what happens if someone decides to pay for an eBay auction I've started that's outside of AuctionWatch? Does the notice get lost "in the mail"?

Also, is it possible to get a copy of all emails received by the mailstep id and have them be forwarded on?

I print out the paypal notices and add them to my files and wouldn't want to lose that if I switch to Mailstep.

And, I still have several auctions running (but under Andale) so how will all that work?

Hi Gellenburg,

You cannot use post sale on items launched outside of AW so this would not pertain to those listings. Your Mailstep ID is your AW account name @mailstep.com which sends the emails to the primary email address you have stored here on the site. You wouldn't be changing your primary paypal ID anyway -- you would simply add it, to the emails you can have stored under your PayPal account.

Hopefully this covers your questions. If not, please let us know!
