I know this sounds crazy but I think it could work if we (AW users)got behind it.
If Ebay would change all the Sellers and Buyers ID's to include the first 3 digits of their zip code as the first 3 spaces of their ID, then as soon as the auction ends that 3 digit code could be input into a chart for the shipping amount.
Of course the weight would have to be included in the listing information as a check box or something and there would also need to be a check box for S&H for seller who normally add this to the shipping price.
Then as soon as the auction ends the matching of zip code would match up with the weight and then add the S&H.
Say 322 sells to 411 this computes as zone 4. Items weight 3 lbs - so the shipping is $6.05 which will then add to the S&H seller has already set as $1.50 ($1.10 for insurance and the balance for handling) Total SHI =$7.55. That is plugged into the WBN and out it goes.
Even if it takes awhile to get the WBN set up - if Ebay added the zip information, we would still have the zip information as soon as the auction closes without requesting it.
As Ebay has it's own check out, it would be helpful for that also. Ebay already has this on file for all users.
I'm sure it would take some time to get it all set up but this increase is forever so why not?
So am I crazy or would this work???

Hi Ladyjewels2000,
While this is a good idea, it is largely dependent on eBay changing information. If you haven't done so already you might want to suggest this over on the ebay forums so that their developers can review the information. It does make it easier to get an idea of the person's zip code based on their ID.

Yes I am planning to post on Ebay's message center - but I was hoping for feedback here first.
Would AW be able to do the linking part and plug the figure in the WBN.
Thanks
This is my thought on it. Although the concept is good - I think it was cause alot of headaches. Just look at how many incorrect emails are on file at ebay - just imagine how many addresses are incorrect. People move and don't change their info. It would require alot of work on ebay's part - and my personal opinion is they won't touch it. Good Luck though!!

Thanks for the input, Corksmom.
I guess I have been lucky - in over 3 years on ebay - I've only had 2 or 3 wrong emails which is too small an amount to calculate in percentage. I'm sure we could add something in our WBN about the shipping amount is based on having the correct zip code.
You are probably right about ebay not wanting to do this but just thinks of all the hours of work it would save their customers - the sellers. Haven't we help them make tons over the years.
The buyer would also have some idea before bidding as to the approximate amount they are going to be paying.
Thanks
