I've been going round and round trying to figure out how to get "PayPal" up in the top section of my auctions - in the ebay part, under "payment", above my pics & description. I've been to global preferences here and couldn't make it happen and I've been through ebay but can't find it.
I'm on Benedryl - maybe I'm just not seeing it. Thanks, mikeboy

Hi Mikeboy,
I think that is a setting you can activate on your PayPal account but I am not 100% sure about that. Engineering is working on getting PayPal incorporated with the ebay listing form on AW, the way that it is on eBay.

I have been to Ebay and to Paypal. You cannot activate the Paypal logo to be placed on the top from these as far as I can tell.
I can do it by revising auction, so I think it is something that absolutely has to be done at the time the auction listing is made.
The only way I can even get cc to show up at the top of my listings is to "say" I accept credit cards and then type in "through Paypal" under how.
Even though I have Paypal checked on the global settings, it will not show up at the top of my listings!
If there is another way please let me know as this confuses some buyers who want to call me to give me cc when they do not use Paypal. But, I have far more buyers who do prefer Paypal so I want it to be at the top and easily seen that I do accept cc payments.

Lindajean, you beat me to it. I just logged on here to tell everybody that I had to revise a title and found where I could edit my accepted payments - and get the PayPal logo up there. I only have 5 auctions going so it wasn't too bad a chore. This is not a link (at least it doesn't activate for me) so you'll still need the usual logo of choice below your auction.

mikeboy: I think at the end of auction it becomes a link. Paypal does not do the auto insert on auctions that have the Ebay Paypal logo at the top.

You have to go in and revise your auctions to do this, every single one of them..I asked Auctionwatch about this over two weeks ago, and received a canned response from Chris. I would appreciate an expected time frame?

Recent Improvements from PayPal
PayPal Integration on eBay.com
Buyers - Save time by using eBay's Search tool to find listings that accept PayPal as a payment option. Look for the PayPal logo toward the top of the View Item page, as seen in the red circle below.
Sellers - Select PayPal as a payment option on the Sell Your Item form or one of eBay's listing services (Mr. Lister, Turbo Lister, and Seller's Assistant). Only listings that have this new option selected will show up in PayPal search results and have a PayPal logo at the top of the View Item page.

Note: I had incorporated the code for a PayPal link in my default eBay listing description which was a work around until eBay excluded auctions from their payment based search based on whether you selected PayPal in their listing form. I really don't want to revise every auction I have that has no bid as yet but that is one of two alternatives I seem to have to be listed. If I lose one sale because of exclusion from this search that is one sale too many! This is not my hobby, I don't feel I can shrug my shoulders and say whatever. This needs to be addressed yesterday.

I am with Dave !!! I am not in this for my health. Everyone knew about the tye-in for ebay and PayPal, so why is AuctionWatch behind. I just now checked all my auctions and now I know longer have PayPal anywhere in my auction listing. I searched for an item other people have and low and behold, when PayPal is selected as a search criteria, I have nothing to offer the world. PayPal is my number one source of payments. Please Sonya and Chris!! Do not offer me a canned, computerized troubleshooting answer. Please ask your programmer when they are going to have this train wreck back on track. Repectfully, Steve.

We're glad that you are working on this over the next few days but clearly the lead time was there. The PayPal deal was in the works for months.
Please be sure to post an announcement AND send emails, if possible. This is a vital addition!!
By the way, all of my auctions don't even show PayPal as an option!! Unless, as instructed above, you go in and revise every single auction. You can also do a semi-auto insertion through PayPal for all live auctions. Not convenient.

Well far be it from me to spoil the party, but I was playing around with some different options and launched 1 little auction to see how it looked, and lo and behold there was a PayPal logo added to the string of option payments below (I said below) the description. This helps a little but because of ebay's search limitations it still needs to be added in the payment options of the ebay listing.
But maybe, just maybe, this means they are getting close.

It doesn't matter if it's in the middle, side or bottom. If it is not in the top where the BillPoint link was or is you are not in the PayPal search engine or parts of the eBay search parameters. The icons which have been added are not a link simply the logos of the various cards and and PayPal which is a good thing for sure. I did a similar work around weeks ago adding the code for a static link (non-java)to my default listing text. You still will not show up in search by payment options. I'm not sure how many people search using this function but if it loses me page views it loses me bids. I understand eBay does not make it easy for developers who use the eBay API and suspect that many of the frequent changes are designed to keep these developers one step behind and force sellers to use more of eBays services without going through a service such as AW but that is another topic entirely and needs to be addressed with eBay regarding its monopolistic approach to commerce and attempts to keep the marketplace closed.

Hello,
You can now add PayPal logos automatically to your listings that accept PayPal! Go to the "Payment Types Accepted" section of My Account | Seller preferences
https://secure.auctionwatch.com/my/acct/seller_global.html , to select "Include only the PayPal logo" or "Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo" in your listings. Users of Sales Manager Pro and Business Edition can set these preferences online for their listings as well.
Note that if you select "Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo", eBay will insert a "Pay Now" button at the top of your closed listing. This button will take the winning bidder through eBay's checkout process. If you use the AuctionWatch Winning Bidder Notification, or any alternative checkout method, we recommend that you choose Include only the PayPal logo, to make sure that buyers do not bypass your preferred checkout procedure.

If you choose the second option, the one that includes the PayPal checkout option, that inserts the logo above the description to the right (where the eBay Billpoint ones used to go). It also inserts the logo into the description as well.

I figured that out in the preferance section. I'll have to enable the checkout which I really don't want to do. I've found that anything below the fold is rarely seen. I have included a short statement in my description which is not read often enough that I do not use ebay's checkout. eBay has integrated the checkout into My eBay to the point that I find I am fighting a losing battle. PayPals value to me was that it was not integrated intoeBay's system and therefore offered more possibilities. Now that is not the case and I have already seen evidence that eBay is making it harder for other payment services to become established. I now have renewed interest in c2it as eBay's control of PayPal gives them too much of a window into my non ebay financial dealings and access to far too much data concerning the people who use eBay.

Please note that if you include the PayPal checkout option, your buyer will be sent through eBay Checkout. This may not be the optimal solution if you want your buyers to use the WBN. If you are using our post-sale tools, we recommend that you select the "Include only the PayPal logo" option.

Thanks, It's a lose, lose situation. Without the listing at the top the auctions won't show up in the PayPal searches. I agree with you but I've already had comments from buyers that they could not find the auctions to pay. I've had the checkout shown for a while through the BillPoint link, I don't like it but I've learned to live with it. The biggest problem is many payment end up short because shipping does not get added or the tax is wrong but I believe I lose more business by not having the link where they look. If you look at any of my listings you'll see I always have had a PayPal link incorporated into the description, it just isn't seen. My buyers do not read any of the details, I'm not sure if they can't or they won't. I'll switch my primary email address with PayPal to my mailstep address so at least I won't have to fill out the missed form. As a matter of routine I refund multiple payments immediately if made through PayPal although BillPoint has been problematic. With this new close integration of PayPal into eBay I am actively looking for another alternative for payment. I wish you would consider a credit card gateway integrated into your checkout and storefront.
I may disable the link at some future date if my response rate to WBN's declines but my response rate has never been above 70% at best.

OK. Here is what i've found out. Set up your global preferences at AW to "Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo in your listing" and then go into eBay and set it up to where you do not use checkout.
After this is done the PayPal logo will appear at the TOP of your listing. When the listing ends it will dissappear as you do not use eBay's checkout.

Thanks roadieken, I believe that with the next listing eBay will toggle the checkout back on or at least that is what they did with BillPoint when I tried a similar approach but they may not have wired it up as yet so I'll give it a try. Around the holiday season there is always an influx of newbies on ebay and much like the lemmings they line up in order and proceed directly to MY eBay which is their portal into the checkout. I've never found any way to discourage them as they don't realize what the checkout is even when they are there. It's sort of like they don't know where they are going and after they return they have have no idea where they've been.

Actually, even with the checkout option turned off and the PayPal logo at the top, eBay will still provide a 'Pay Now' button at the top of the listing when finished to checkout directly using PayPal.

I thought so. It is ironic that I lobbied so hard for a feature which I will curse on a daily basis. For some time I've tried to come up with a good work around to let people know that I accept PayPal without enabling the checkout but have come up empty. I was very sorry when eBay was allowed to acquire PayPal as that gives them more of a stranglehold on sellers than they already enjoy. This morning they ammended the sellers agreement for what they term large volume users which I must be as I was sent a notice with regard to this specifically agreeing to MasterCards user requirements and the language that must be incorporated into my auctions. I am sure there are more changes in the works which will be followed closely with more fees.

WHAT I WANT IS IN THE PAYMENT DESCRIPT ON TOP IN RED... is paypal.
so we have 2 options in your "golobal settings" right?
"1. Include only the PayPal logo in my listing (recommended)"
"2. Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo in my listing"
when I selected the first one it DIDNOT PUT paypal at top in my payments methods accepted...
when I selected 2 and tired it it put in the paypal in the payment description (hurrah) but I was warned that it could put in a seperate button when the auctions end..
I have a fair few auctions so I want to get it right....
also what happened to the good 'ol yellow pay now button... that I setup in my paypal settings it seems to have disappaered?

Hi Rostaf,
If you want the PayPal logo at the top of your listing, select option number 2. The warning is simply about how eBay changed their system now, and when you use this function, it will give a 'Pay' button at the end of the listing, directly in the listing, to pay via paypal directly - via the eBay listing. It is similair to the Pay Now button.
