Is there anyway to have c2it mentioned as an accepted payment without having the logo. Paypal has a silly rule to receive 1.5% back on your purchases you agree to not have any other payment service logo but theirs. I just signed up for c2it a week or so ago and Paypal hasn't found the logo yet. I have heard of them catching other people though.

Hello Rose,

I am unfamiliar with this Paypal promotion or rule. Would you mind providing more detail, or (even better) a link to the Paypal promotion outline?

Thanks,

Diana

That PayPal promotion is outlined in the Paypal site after you log into your account. Basically if PayPal is the only online service you accept and is the only service mentioned in your auction copy you are eligible for a 1.5% cashback on all purchases made with your PayPal debit card. The offer has existed for at least the past year that I am aware of it. I never noticed that it only pertained to logo's displayed as I never signed up for the program as I can get cashback on my discover card or miles on my airline card which I prefer and since the funds are not insured thru FDIC I never leave much of a balance in the account anyway.

I sent an answer to Diana through my email and I thought it would show up here as well. Since it didn't I'll post it so everyone can see it.

Diana,
I found the email Paypal sent me and when I clicked the link to get the
information. It said I had to log in first so I have copied and pasted the
information here with the link.

>>Attention eBay Sellers

Save over 50% of your PayPal fees by becoming PayPal Preferred!

How do I become PayPal Preferred?
1. Sign up for the PayPal ATM/Debit Card.
2. Advertise PayPal as the only online payment option on your eBay listings.

How do I save on fees?
Just use your PayPal debit card. You'll get 1.5% cashback on purchases. It's
like an instant refund >>of over 50% of your PayPal fees.

Here is from the second page that is linked from the first one:

>>PayPal Preferred Rewards

To become PayPal Preferred and earn cashback, you need to be an active eBay
seller with at least one auction every three weeks and make PayPal the only
online payment option advertised in your auctions with logos and hyperlinks.
PayPal will spot-check listings once a week.

What are examples of other "online payment options"?
Billpoint/eBay Online Payments (compare)
Yahoo PayDirect

Which payment options can I still advertise, along with PayPal?
Checks
Money orders
Other offline payment options
Note: You can still mention other online payment services in your
end-of-auction email to buyers. The only requirement is that PayPal is the
only online payment service advertised using logos and >>hyperlinks in your
eBay listings.

I received this email 10/10/02.

I kind of see my answer here in the Paypal message:

end-of-auction email to buyers. The only requirement is that PayPal is the
only online payment service advertised using logos and hyperlinks in your
eBay listings.

But how can we do this through AuctionWatch, have the link just in the WBN?

Kind of seems like they are trying for a monopoly here. On one hand I'm tempted to say the heck with Paypal but the 1.5% is nice for setting off their already high fees and so many bidders like to use them. Now that Ebay owns Paypal I feel like I'm being hit by fees from both ends. Ebay is getting a FVF and another percentage of my sales on top of that including the shipping and handling fees through Paypal.

Also I haven't had one person use c2it yet! I signed up for it to see if I could save on some of these Paypal fees.

OK, I'm done grumbling.

Hello,

Thank you for the information. I will pass this along for evaluation. At this time, however, there is no way to omit the c2it logo if it is selected as a payment option unless you revise your auctions and remove the logo manually (we do not recommend this unless you are very HTML savvy!)

Thanks again, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Diana
