I have had 4 out of 11 payments denied yesterday because buyers were trying to pay me with a credit card via paypal and my account doesn't accept credit cards (and I DON'T want to upgrade!)
I set up all my auctions correctly in that regard. I didn't check the paypal box, and I included in the description in BOLD LARGE LETTERS that paypal payments should be made with non-credit/debit card payments only, I added verbage to this effect in my WBN and CHECKOUT, etc. etc.
Now, when I sent out my WBNs, I manually entered in shipping costs as per the buyers' zip code, and manually checked off paypal as one of the methods of payment prior to sending.
MY QUESTION IS THIS:
By checking the paypal box for the WBN, does this include some kind of INSTANT PAYMENT button in the checkout, so the buyers can just one-click their way to paying? If so, I believe this might be the reason I had to deny so many payments, as many people default their paypal accounts to credit/debit card. And if so, is there any way of avoiding this "instant payment" option?
Also is there a paypal logo with credit card logos included in checkout? This is also a problem.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing your answers on this!

Hi Kelly,
I am not familiar with non credit card payments to PayPal. Is there a different form for these transactions? You can see what buyers click on when they select PayPal as an option for payment by going to any fulfillment checklist that has step 2 shaded. Click the PSM keys, and then click the link that says "Go to Buyer Checkout". If they selected PayPal as a payment method, a link will be there saying they can go to PayPal to complete the payment.
If you have a different set up for PayPal you might want to consider not using the link, and inserting the word PayPal in the Other check box and then provide your customers with the link on PayPal that you want them to use. If you have PayPal checked on the WBN it will give that link I was referring to once they finish the WBN. It also insert a little PayPal logo that has the mini credit card logos.

Sonya - Yes - this is where the problem lies. There are a few different kinds of seller accounts -if you have a personal paypal account, your account will not accept credit card payments. The good thing about that is that paypal doesn't charge transaction fees. The bad thing about that is that paypal lets the payments go through anyway, then as a seller you can choose to either upgrade your account or deny the payment, at an inconvenience to both the buyer and the seller.
In AW checkout - the link to "pay for this item via paypal now" (or whatever the verbage is) links the buyer to an "instant" payment, and the buyer pays for the item via which ever funding option (bank or credit card) is their default for their paypal account. They don't have a choice, and when they receive their denial notice, are quite confused and/or miffed.
Is there a way to NOT include this particular link in the checkout? I would love to instead just include a link to the paypal site and let the buyer make the payment that way, where they would have a choice as to how to fund the payment. (or not have a link at all)

Hello,
Unfortunately there isn't a way to keep PayPal selected as your payment choice, and not have that link in the WBN. I can log a suggestion with product development to make it an option to choose no logo for PayPal -- is this along the lines of what you were looking for?
