Hello,

I understand that one computer worked yesterday, and I've noticed that you managed to upload images and listings normally at one point. Were you using the first computer, the one that failed on Monday? Did you notice anything special about it - especially about the way you managed to get it to work?

Now, do both computers fail after uploading 1 or 2 images?

Please let us know what type of Internet connection you use. Do the computers each have their own connections, or is a local proxy involved?

Thanks,

-Radu

The one computer worked - it was a miracle but somehow it worked for one whole hour - then it crashed - my other two computers do not work they will attempt to synch then they will upload two pics (which there are no NEW images so I am not sure what they are uploading) but they will upload then image synch failure - Neither computer work right now and I have synched at least 10 times

In addition I just received my Auctionwatch invoice now honestly I was billed the full amount I have been having this problem for a long time I have left several notes and have gone back and forth with many different people telling you about my headaches I am honestly considering another auction managing program due to the fact that this situation does not seem to be one that Auctionwatch is willing to help me with.

In regards to your question I have a 4 port linksys isp modem so all computers are hooked thru there w/firewall nothing has changed thru my isp so I am not sure why NONE of my computers will synch now ?

Please help

Hello,

I'm sorry you are still having this difficulty. There are many things that can cause problems like this. Is there any way you can connect your modem directly to the working computer, and bypass the router to see if the router might be the culprit?

Thanks,

Diana

same response as the other thread I use op onlin isp and it fails I also have access thru dial up modem AOL this also fails two separate connections both fail - so I dont think it is a connection issue I believe it is a software problem - by the way you have another user of optimum online who has the same problem ! WE are both very frustrated and are waiting for AW solution

Hi - please try the following with your network computer (the upload failure with AOL could be completely unrelated.)

Go to Start -> Run and run ping -l 1472 -n 100 -f imagehost.auctionwatch.com

Here is an example of what you will see:

Pinging imagehost.auctionwatch.com [66.7.130.10] with 1472 bytes of data:

Reply from 66.7.130.14: bytes=1472 time=20ms TTL=61
Reply from 66.7.130.14: bytes=1472 time=20ms TTL=61
Reply from 66.7.130.14: bytes=1472 time=20ms TTL=61
Reply from 66.7.130.14: bytes=1472 time=20ms TTL=61
------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the above example we show that we can send packets 1472 bytes long with a 20ms ping time.

Please try running the above step for a while and note the ping time. Try gradually reducing the packet length size (the number following -l in the run string) from
1472 to around 50. If ping time improves, that indicates some issues with your modem through to your ISP.

Please post back with your results.

Thanks,

Diana

we ping at 46 no matter what the packet length is so I am guessing it is not the modem

Have you changed anything with your firewall is configured lately, or have you installed a virus-checker? Is your AOL dialup going through the same firewall as your Optimum connection? Is Optimum a DSL or cable service?

To confirm - you are unable to upload images directly to our site using image hosting online in addition to being unable to synch SM Pro?

Another thing - do you happen to have a subscription to Norton anti-virus? If so, please check the status of your subscription as NAV automatically blocks traffic if your subscription runs out.

Sorry for the frustration...

Diana

Thanks for tying but here are the answers to your questions

1 - there is no norton antivirus on this computer
2 - nothing has been changed on the firewall
3 - aol does not go thru the router it is dial up modem pci card
4 - optinum online is is cable modem not DSL
5 - I was not able to go online and upload thru www.auctionwatch.com and attach pics either

what next ?

Hello,

We are still looking into your problem. Here are a few questions:

1. Are you sure that the images that fail to upload are not corrupted? I have noticed, for instance, that the upload failed repeatedly on some images, such as:
- DSC00036.JPG
- DSC05648.JPG
- DSC09828.JPG

Is there anything special about these images?

2. I am very confused about your note that there should be no new image on your computer, so no image upload should happen in fact. Could you please check how many images you have in the online image hosting account?

Then, please use Windows Explorer to check how many files you have in the 'images' folder of your local SMPro installation (normally under 'C:\Program Files\AuctionWatch').

In order to reset the image synch, you might as well delete the 'Images.map' file, located in the 'data' folder of your local SMPro installation. Then, restart SMPro and synch.

3. Please take an image which is definitely good, perhaps by downloading one that you have already uploaded to your image hosting account. Copy and rename it locally, then try to upload the renamed image using your browser. Will this work?

4. If this worked, please repeat the test with SMPro. Make (and rename) for instance 5 identical copies of the good image, add them all to the SMPro image album, and then synch. Will the upload work for all of them?

Thanks,

-Radu

I checked the three images you spoke of I already deleted the image and the thumb for them I am not sure why they caused a problem but they are not in my auctionwatch folder

I went into manage images and deleted some old pictures thinking that it would delete them off of my computer as it has done in the past - now my computer is uploading the pictures back to your server ? What is going on I am sure that it will fail again after it is synch but now my computer is tied up again for another 4 hours !!

Hello,

If you deleted images online, they should indeed be deleted in SMPro during the next synch. If this does not happen, please make sure that the date, time and time zone are properly set on your computer. Also, they would be uploaded again, if you deleted them online, and simultaneously deleted the local 'Images.map' file.

I've noticed that the synchronization works properly now. Do you see any synchronization errors?

The 3 images I've mentioned were just an example, as I've noticed several more images which failed to upload repeatedly. It might be that some of them were indeed corrupt, or too large. If you get errors again, please click 'Details' and check what image caused the failure. Then, remove it from SMPro and try to synch again.

Thanks,

-Radu
