It seems to me that when you relist an item from the unsold section, it should automatically remove itself from unsold (into either archive or inventory or somewhere). Instead, you have to manually delete these once they relist. Doesn't it make sense that you would no longer want it to be in the unsold section once relisted????

Hello Jaymark9,
The normal behavior is for the item to remove itself from unsold. Has this just started to happen to your listings? Is it happening to all of them or to certain ones?
I've been relisting items from my unsold section for months now. The items relist OK, but they remain in the unsold area until I manually go in and archive them.

I believe they only remove themselves if they did not have a winning bidder the first time. Otherwise AW does not consider them a true "relist".

I don't understand the response. Let me rephrase the question.
When I go to my UNSOLD items section there are TWO options at the top of that page. One is ARCHIVE and one is RELIST. If I select an item and then click on ARCHIVE, once I conform that I wish to archive the item, it then disappears from the UNSOLD list and goes to the Archives. However, if I select an item, then click on RELIST, the screen comes up where I can edit, relist or schedule to relist the item. I then click the RELIST button on this page and the item is either relisted automaticaly (and appears on my active list) or gets scheduled (and appears on my pending list), HOWEVER, the items does NOT move from the UNSOLD listing. So I have to again select it and go through the process of archiving it. Seems to me, once you click that RELIST button and commit the item to auction, it should remove itself from the UNSOLD listing automaticaly. Make sense???
Only true relists are removed from the closed section when you relist them. That means that if the item you select to relist, was a relist itself, or sold the first time around, it will remain in your closed section when you resubmit.
Items that are first time auctions that you select to relist, will be removed from the closed section.

If that is the case...does it make any sense?? Why would you want an item that you put back up for auction to remain in your unsold section??? If it sells when you put it back up for auction, there's the chance that you could list the item later from the unsold list, when in fact it WAS sold.

My unsold items NEVER remove themselves from UNSOLD upon relist, regardless of whether it is a true relist or not. I always have to manually archive them.

THANk YOU shibamarie
I was beginning to think I was the only one who wondered about this.
For AW: could you please describe a scenario for me where you would NOT want your items to automatically rmeove themselves from the UNSOLD section when relisted? (whether within the 30 days window or not). Once you have identified an item to go back on auction, it no longer should be labled as UNSOLD.
If you have any examples of an auction that was not removed when you relisted it, when it was a true relist, and it remained in your closed section - I would be more than happy to look into it for you.
I have tested this extensively in other accounts in the past, and thus far have never come across an item that remained in closed when it should not have.
Typically, the item that users believe should have been removed ends up being a relist itself, meaning we make a copy of the item they selected to relist and left the original in the closed section.

Christopher
For my purposes, it makes no difference if the item that is in the unsold section is a relist, a re-re-list or a re-re-re-list....WHY would you want anything to stay in a database called "unsold" when once you place it back up for auction, it becomes a potential SOLD item? There is only one of these "things" so I don't need it to appear in two places. The way things work now, the item I have clicked on to relist from the unsold area, then will appear in the ACTIVE section but still stays in the UNSOLD area, unles I manually delete/archive it. Why would anyone want that????
