When the buyer chooses Preferred Checkout and they wind up on my site, can they pause there and shop? Can I have the message above the checkout directions invite them to shop before checking out? Or will that cause thekm to have two separate bills?

Yes, your buyers can continue to shop from your checkout page as they have before. You can change the welcome message on your checkout page and invite your buyers to shop further by going into your Post Sale Management Preferences and editing the "Checkout Process Welcome Message".
