I woke up this morning and decided to relist a bunch of closed auctions. As I was doing so, I noticed that a new checkout feature had been added to my template, and some of my shipping options had been deleted. Thinking maybe I'd had a brain fart, I checked a few others. WOW. Apparently AW had rolled out a new checkout feature and auotmatically reset my preferences.

Now I'll admit, I didn't flyspeck every auction as I was relisting, why should I? I hadn't changed my preferences.

Well, AW, I don't want your new feature and now I have to go back through 35 or 40 pending auctions, unschedule each one, copy it, revise, relist, and then go back and delete the faulty one.

DON"T MESS WITH USER PREFERENCES!!!!!

We just figure out that you must go to your post sale and click on the do not display , this way your auction won't show the checkout if you list from PRO .

Hello,

The AuctionWatch Checkout button takes buyers to the same checkout pages as the link inside the WBN. The checkout method presented is exactly the same; the button simply provides a new place to tell your buyer where to find YOUR checkout directions. Some buyers look in their email for directions on how to arrange payment and shipping, while others return to the listing for directions. Now you have a way to communicate checkout instructions to both types of buyers.

The checkout button was automatically included only for people who already use the automatic WBN. If you do not wish to include the checkout buttons in your listing, you may turn this feature off in your AuctionWatch preferences: https://secure.auctionwatch.com/my/acct/psm.html

Wrong, I don't use automatic WBN and it was inserted in my preferences and relists. I don't use WBN because I sell internationally and I have enough trouble with our neighbors to the north who think postage rates are the same. I ask international buyers to email me and then I set the WBN to reflect their shipping costs.

In the future, when you roll out a new feature, give us the option of choosing it, just don't ram it down our throats or change our preferences.

How would you like it if happened to you?

bowtiefifty,

As Tara already stated, it was only turned on for users of the automatic WBN, AKA - users already using this system. I cannot say why only your account was effected when the auto-WBN was not enabled, but it was in error, and we apologize for any inconvenience this error may have caused.

Thanks for the apology.

My comment stands - in the future when you roll out a new feature allow us to opt in, not have to opt out. You shouldn't be changing anyone's preferences. Think about it, they are our preferences, not yours.
