Hi Sanmar,

The support for eBay item specifics required us to slightly change the listing process since we had to enlarge the category selector significantly. We have separated the category selector from the rest of the listing information to help in two ways:

1.) It allows us to present the correct Item Specifics fields to you directly within the listing form. Since eBay is planning to have widespread use of Item Specifics across their categories this year, having these fields within the listing form (instead of in a pop-up or on an additional page) will save our sellers time and effort creating eBay listings.

2.) It helps distribute the large amount of page data -- now the listing page itself can load much faster without the whole category tree. This is especially noticeable when you go to edit pending listings or re-lists.

For most users, the new listing process actually has the exact same number of clicks as the previous page flow. The process flow has changed, but the process contains the exact same number of page loads as before.

If you are finding that the process has slowed because you cannot view your images before selecting a category, we would recommend either of the following:

1.) Select the most pertinent category before you list, and edit the category after you create your listing if necessary.

2.) Use Sales Manager Pro to create your listings offline, if you are not utilizing item specifics. This application will allow you to view your images and select the category as you create the listing. Once created, you can schedule your listings and upload to Sales Manager in batches. Sales Manager Pro can be downloaded for free here:

Please let us know if you have any questions about Sales Manager Pro.

Note that eBay is now requiring item specifics for several categories (including tickets and PDAs), and will be applying this to many more categories in the coming months. Per eBay's stated statistic, listings utilizing item specifics are more likely to sell, and when sold, the sale price is on average 10% higher than without item specifics.

Regards,

Sonya
