For years now I have been suffering with your archaic system of reviving pictures. I know have 22 pages of pictures with 200 pictures a page of which are about to be automatically deleted by your system. So per usual since I use these pictures over and over and over again, every 3 stinking months I have to go and click on every single picture then backpage to get back to the list and do this for literally hours upon hours to revive the pictures so they don't get deleted! What is the problem? How hard is it for you to put an option at the bottom to reload them by just at very least clicking the box? Do you have any comprehension on how grueling and how many days of work it is to do this every 3 months. I pay for this service, I don't feel you have a right to decide when the pictures should be deleted anyway! I am about to lose my mind!

Hi Coolaroni,

Unfortunately there are only two ways to refresh the image -- click them to view them in full in Image Hosting, or launch a new auction with your images in them. I checked some of your listings in eBay and you are not using the right URL for your images, so they are not refreshing when you launch your auctions. You've been using the "Preview" URL -- here is the one that you will need to use:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/yourAWusername/yourimagefilename.jpg

This URL can be used in any auction and can be altered to point to any image in your list simply by changing the image filename portion - just be sure that the filename *exactly* matches the filename on our site (case-sensitive.)

Use of this URL will stop you from having to refresh your images every 3 months.

Regards,

Sonya

Ok, so why didn't anyone in all the years of my griping about this ever tell me my URL was incorrect, I have used that for years and there actually was never anyplace that tells you what to use as the URL I just clicked on the picture and used the URL that was showing. But most importantly, I do not use Vendio to launch my listings, so will changing the URL in thousands of my auctions change anything at this point?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly by the way!

Hello,

You are on a monthly payment plan so you have unlimited use of Image Hosting. Changing the URL won't do anything, you would just change the first part of it anyway. At some point you will want to change the auctionwatch URLs to Vendio -- we recommend that you do that, along with using the correct URL that I provided for you above.

The preview URL was never really designed for use in auctions if you want to display your images, all it does is show you how your image looks in our system after you've uploaded it. There is a way for you to generate HTML to get URLs to your images -- for people who just want to put the image in full size on their site we give them the URL to use. Since the inception of the 90 day deletion policy, we have encouraged users to use the right URL as the preview URL just displays how your image uploads and isn't the one that will be "touched" for renewal by our image host system.

Regards,

Sonya

Ok, then..........If I click on the box's and say attach to an auction, all of the pictures that I attach, should be your URL's because I am not putting anything at all into the auction, you will be adding all the pictures. But I did that and they still didn't refresh. I put about 20 pictures on an active auction to see if thatwould work and it didn't. Again, not using the wrong URL, just adding them from the image host page attach. So why wouldn't they have refreshed since those pictures were newly put on my auctions?

Hello,

We are in the process of performing some maintenance on the image database, and have temporarily paused the "last viewed" date. This will not update until we have completed the maintenance, but no image purges will be performed until after the "last viewed" function resumes.

Regards,
Christopher

Please confirm for sure! AFter you wrote this last night, I attached a bunch of pictures to an auction. They are still showing ready for deletion. For sure are they eventually going to be reflagged? This is really important, because if it will be ok doing it this way I will do all of my auctions this way, otherwise all of my pictures will be deleted unless I go an redo it the grueling way and I will be dead! So I really need to know if this will work because I am at a deadline now.

Hi Coolaroni,

The message posted by Christopher explains why the date has not changed. Your images will not be purged. Please check the announcements forum for updates on this issue.

Sonya

Sonya,

I totally comprehended Christopher's statment, sorry I am not stupid. (actually I think it was pretty smart of me to figure out this way easier system to revive my pictures)But it wasn't clear to me the method that I was about to use would work. I do need you to answer one more question. I just put a ton of pictures on an auction. By just doing that does that count, and can I go and delete them from the auction now. Or do they need to be on the page for a certain amount of time before they are flagged for renewel? Because I know have a bazillion pictures that are irrelevant to my current auction that I put it on.

Thanks and I will leave you alone after this.

Hello coolaroni,

I would recommend manually resetting the images that are showing red warning messages, if at all possible. The deletion date function has resumed, and we will be purging images as scheduled.

The images in your auctions will start resetting the deletion flag as soon as they are viewed (assuming that the correct URL is being used.) You can view the auctions yourself to make sure that the flag is reset, but simply attaching the images to an auction will not do the trick. The flag is dependent on the image actually being viewed.

I hope this helps. I am sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,

Diana
